who herds 150 cows on a 450 acre dairy farm every
morning and most afternoons. Our mixed breed is a
beloved pet who stays in the house as much as she stays
outside. Does this person see the numerous times we bring
her inside because she is afraid of lightning? Both of these
dogs have been spayed and receive regular veterinary care
and vaccines. By restraining them, we are protecting them
from being shot at while roaming or even killed on the
nearby highway. Does all this sound "inhumane" to you?
As for the dogs not being "protected from the weather",
both dogs have outdoor houses lined with carpet. Both ei
ther run free with supervision every day or are driven to the
farm to run free for a couple of hours.
It is astounding the lengths some people will go to stick
their noses in someone else's business. The coward who
wrote the letter has our permission to bring a pet psychol
ogist to our home to interview our animals and see what
THEY have to say about all this! Ha!

of all citizens. They must be careful
not to prescribe any one particular
opinion on those who arc involun
tarily participating. For example, a
Christian would not want his child
forced by a Muslim teacher to begin
each day with the Islam prayer to
Allah by Mohammed the prophet.
A private Christian school, in
contrast, is a voluniary legal entity
composed of individuals who united
for tiic special purpose of providing
their children a unique Christian
perspective in their education.
Because no one was forced to at
tend the school, the principle of re
ligious liberty has not been violated
by requiring teachers to adhere to
Christian principles or even more
rigid sectarian doctrines of the par
ticular faith of the institution.
In fact, the activity of
Westminster Schools in forming
and teaching Christian perspectives
is one of the rights guaranteed by
the U.S. Constitution. It is the
duty of the State to protect that
right against any philosophy con
trary to Christianity which would
attempt to abridge it.
Here is the point, Westminster's
intolerance (as viewed by some) is
simply a manifestation of civil lib
erty.
To be penalized for holding a
particular view of education
(Christian) by institutions of higher
education (some of them public)
violates the separation of church
and state in the name of separation
of church and state and causes the
state to relinquish its basic
constitutional mandate of protecting
the rights of its private citizens and
institutions! It is gross hypocrisy
in the name of political correctness!
As long as American higher edu
cation remains committed to aca
demic freedom, those who teach at
institutions where the public ideal
prevails must welcome all view
points, even those they deem offen
sive or politically incorrect and

must evaluate high school graduates
on a level playing field based upon
academic record and ability rather
then personal philosophy.
