By ROBIN BOOKER

Residents living on County Line
Road have been waiting a long time
to gel their road paved. And the
Houston County Public Works
Department has been working a
long time to reach that very goal,
with Mother Nature not cooperating
and delay after delay extending the
project.
County workers have been work
ing for the past couple of years to
get the road paved, but each time
progress is made, bad weather inter
venes and causes setbacks.
However, with the good weather on
tap rcccnily, hopes are high that the
project can progress and the paving
will be completed this year.
"That project has just been drag
ging on and on, and cvcrytimc we
get going on it again, rain sets the
work crews back some more," said
County Commission Chairman
Sherrill Stafford. "With the good
weather we’ve had recently, crews

In other business, the Perry
Planning and Zoning Commission:
•Gave the jr-ahead to resident

Street in Perry. Jordan had requested
a 16 food variance in the city’s side

there, and we hope to keep the pro

The work that was being done
on the road was significantly
slowed down when the area experi
enced heuvy rainfall a XftW.,weeks
ago. The ruin severely damaged
pipes that had. ajrcady s bccn in
stalled, so new pipes had to be
ordered before the work could con

"The new pipes came in last
week, so we hope this will be the
last major setback we have," said
Stafford.
