The regular public examinations are being held at the city hall this week, and they have attracted a good deal of in terest. Next Sunday the commencement sermon will be preached at Hunt’s opera house by Rev. W. L. Pierce at li o’clock. Next Monday evening, be ginning at 8:30 o’clock, at the same place, the regular commencement ex ercises will be held. The past term has been a verv successful one and the teachers and pupils are entitled to a much needed rest. There was an all day singing at Mt. Vernon in Quillian’s district, last Sun day * It is estimated that there were a thousand people present, and every body enjoyed the day.
