There is more Catarrh in this section
of the country than, all other diseases
put together, and until the last few
years was supposed to be incurable.
For a great many years doctors pro
nounced it a local disease and prescrib
ed local remedies, and by constantly
failing to cure with local treatment
pronounced it iacurable. Science has
proven catarrh to be a constitutional
disease and therefore requires consti
tutional treatment. Ball’s Catarrh
Cure, manufactured bv F. J. Cheney
& Co*. Toledo, Ohio., is the only con
stitutional cnre on the market. It is
taken internally in doses from 10 drops
to a t;easpoonful. It acts directly on
the blood and mucous surfaces of the
system. They offer One hundred dol
lars for any case it fails to cure.

Important To Cotton Ginnrs,
That Kissing Story.
Some time ago an Eastern paper
startled prospective gooms and
erst while lover by proclaiming the
fact that the Pennsylvania rail
road would no longer allow kissing
at railway stations. The story went
so far as to sav that an order had
been issued from the Jersey City
station of the Pennsylvania rail
road prohibiting this old time cus
tom of saluting. So perturbed were
some of the Pennsylvania officials
that an announcement has been
made denying the veracity of the
report. “Absurd,” they say, “that
we should presume to interrupt, to
say nothing of preventing that es
sential joy-practice.”

It isn’t often the case that
there are more vacant offices in
the gift of the goverment than
there are applicants for the places,
says the Savannah Morning News,
yet that is the condition of affairs
in the medical department ol the
army. Uncle Sam desires forty-
nine assistant surgeons to be sent
to thePhilippines, for which places
only thirty applications have been
filed. The assistant surgeon ranks
as a mounted first lieutenant, and
