It is highly important that he should possess and carefully culti vate all those social qualities which will increase his influence and usefulness in a community. He should consider it a part of his duty, when he takes up a school, to arouse a deeper interest among the patrons than they have ever before felt. He cannot command confidence, but he can always de serve it, and his chief aim is to be and do what should commend him to the good opinion of pupils and patrons. I do not mean by this, Realizing the work, he should let them see that he is alive to the well-being of their children. He should seek frequent oppor tunities of intercourse with the pa rents, although the advance should be made by the parents them selves; yet, as a general rule the teacher must lead the way. He must often introduce himself un invited to the people among whom he dwells, call at their homes and converse with them about his duty | to their children and themselves. PALMOUR HARDWARE Allen Wilder Made District Man ager. | The Atlanta News, of recent date, has the following notice of Mr, Allen Wilder, who was princi- j pal of the school at Flowery Branch for a year or two, and who is well known in Gainesville: “Allen Wilder, a prominent young insurance man of Atlanta, who has for some time been in the employ of the Northwestern Mu tual Insurance Company, has been made district manager for the Massachusetts Mutual, with head- quarters in Atlanta. He will work under the state agency and his territory will cover about four teen counties in North Georgia. A somewhat novel method of curing himself of the drink, habit has been adopted by a citizen of Ne* Brunswick, N. J. He hasj taken an iron-bound pledge ot to tal abstinence before a notary and then published the affidavit in a newspaper. He explains his course by saying he will be better able to keep his pledge with the eyes of the world upon him. It is claimed that an appellate court is needed to releive the supreme court of a great deal of business *hich often congests the docket of that court. Will Meet in Gainesville.
