THE TRUTH HURTS MIGHTY BAD. One, M. 0. Gilmer, the alleged sheriff of Hall county, went around town last week trying to get some one to write him “a piece” for the paper. He found at last two willing scribes, and they fixed it up for him in apple pie or der. As he didn’t have sense enough to write it himself they asked him what they should write for him. He replied: “Tell them they are ail liars, and that I said so, begosh.” This they wrote. “Now, what else?” they asked. “Tell them that I hain’t got the bellyache, but that they have, begosh-” This they also wrote, as did the the scribes of old. Now, as to the two propositions, we don’t think that we, or our in formants are guilty of the first. When the record stands against a man, he hasn’t got much to sup port him and Gilmer has to resort to wind pumping, long distance liar throwing etc. As to his sec ond proposition, we must acknow ledge the corn. He does give us the bellyache, and what he would n’t give the bellyache couldn’t have the bellyache. And, we might add, the alleged sheriff will likely have the worst case of bellyache he ever heard of before he collects that account against the tax payers of the coun ty, which, by the way, has already been paid once, say the county officers who have the settling of these matters in hand.
