Too Much Money.
The treasurer of the State of Missis
sippi has resigned his office—and for a
peculiar reason. A million dollars is
kept usuallj in the vaults at the Capi
tol and constant apprehensions as to
the safety of the fund have disturbed
the treasurer’s peace of mind and
broken his slumbers. The State would
not let him lend the money, and rather
than be worried by its presence and
the fears of its sudden disappearance,
he has resigned.
