A delightful Christmas hop was given at the armory of the Candler Horse Guards Monday evening. Most of the young people of the city were present. Mr. V. M. Montgomery, president of the Pacolet and Gainesville Cotton Mills, came over from Spartanburg, last Friday and remained a day or two here. * Miss Inez Langford entertained very delightfully last Friday" evening at her elegant Green street home in honor of her friends. A number of young peo ple were present, and the occassion was a most pleasant one. The funeral of Mrs. Thomas Burry, who died last Wednesday, was held at l o’clock Thursday afternoon, and the remains were interred at Alta Vista cemetary.
