Because I’m broke.
Lots of work,
No muchee pay;
Sick of washee,
Must go ’way.
Here is key;
Rent no got;

The ants then made a combined
attack. The caterpillar, however,
was a good general. Betaking
himself to a spear of grass, he
backed up the stalk, followed by
the ants, which, however, coulc
approach only in single file. As
one came near, the caterpillar
seized it in his jaws and threw i
to the ground.
The ants, seeing that the cater
pillar had too strong a position
for them to overcome, also resort
ed to strategy. They began saw
ing through the grass stalk. In a
few minutes the stalk fell, and
hundreds of ants pounced upon
the fallen caterpillar. He was
killed at once, and the victors
marched away in triumph.

The work of the extra session of the

There are about 10,000,000 mig
ratory sheep in Spain which each
year travel as much as 200 miles
from the plains to the mountains.
They are known as trans-hu-
mantes and their march, resting
places and behavior are governed
by special regulations, dating
from the fourteenth century. At
certain times no one may travel
the same route as the sheep,
which have the right to graze on
all open and common land on the
way. For this purpose a road
ninety yards wide must be left on
all inclosed and private property.
The shepherds lead their flocks,
which follow after and around.
The flock are accompanied by
provision mules, and by large
dogs to guard against wclyes. The
merino sheep travel forty miles to
the mountains, and the total time
spent on the migration there and
back is fourteen weeks.

Ants And Caterpillar.
A | singular and in
sense exciting combat
witnessed by one of
correspondents of the Pierre
PreBB, who observed a caterpillar
one morning crawling along at a
rapid rate. Pursuing him was a
host of small black ahts.
The ants, being quicker than
the caterpillar iu their move
ments, would catch up with him,
and one would mount his back
and bite him. Pausing, the cat
erpillar would turn his head aod
bite and kill his tormentor.
Alter slaughtering a dozen or
more of his persecutors, the cater
pillar showed signs of fatigue.
Lieutenant Peary says that, with the
necessary backing of about $200,000, he
would head another expedition for the
Arctic regions, and he believes he
could tack the Stars and Stripes to the
North Pole. Will the Ice Trust please
