Had Severe Fall.
Mrs. J. G Hynds had a severe fall
last Friday night near her home on
East Broad street, which will keep her
in bed for about six week. She accom
panied some of her children a part of
the #ay to the opera house to the de
clamatory contest, and was walking
back home with her mother, Mrs. L.
H. Johnson, when she stepped into a
hole in the sidewalk and fell violently
to the ground. She was stunned by the
fall and could not rise to her feet. In
vestigation showed that she had
severely sprained her right ankle, and
she had to be carried to her home, and
a physician summoned, Dr. E. P. Ham
responding. She was made as com
fortable as possible, but she suffered
considerable pain, and the accident
will keep her indoors for six weeks.
Her friends regret to hear of the mis
fortune.

A certain person of the old

their discourses—wound up his
own discourse by saying: “As for

Plans Were too Expensive.
The mayor and council and the city
board of education met last Saturday
afternoon in consultation over the
plans for the new school building.
The plans as prepared by Mr. C. C.
Wilson, the architect, overtopped the
appropriation, and it was agreed to
confer with Mr. Wilson and if he would
so alter the plans as to give a satisfac
tory building for the money appropri
ated for this purpose the city would
pay him 2}§ per cent on $19,000 and
not require him to superintend the con
struction of the building. It is not
known what agreement will be reached
between them.
Dr. R. D. Grigg this morning bought
of Dr. J. H. Daniel a lot on South
Main street, adjoining H. B. Smith

this lot with the expectation of erect
