the execution issued, and in case he
owns any amount, stating what amount
is due, which amount so admitted to be
due shall be paid or collected before the
affidavit is received, and the affidavit
received for the balance and all such
affidavits so received shall be returned
to the superior court of Hall county
and there be tried and the issue deter
mined as in cases of illegality, subject
to all the laws and penalties provided
in cases of illegality for delay.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict
with this ordinance be, and the same
are hereby repealed.

The city attorney was instructed
to prepare an ordinance on paving
streets, by next meeting of coun
cil.
Repairing and lowering the
water main beyond the stand pipe,
was referred to committee on wat
er and lights with power to act.
On motion, the sanitary com
mittee was instructed to clean out
the alley between the stores on the
north side of the public square
and the residence of R. Palmour,
at the expense of the occupants of
the stores along said alley.
Council adjourned.

Shewmake-Stowe.
The marriage of Mr. Sam Shew-
make of Buford, and Miss Sallie
Stowe of this city, occurred at the
home of the bride’s mother at the
Gainesville cotton mill Suuday af
ternoon at 4 o’clock, Justice of the
Peace F. M. Loden officiating. On
ly a few friends were present to
witness the wedding. Both young
people have mauy friends who
wish them well in life.

Great Meeting Closed.
Rev. D. S. Grindle, pastor of
the Baptist church at New Hol
land, closed the series of meeting
which has been in progress there
last Saturday night. There were
70 assessions to the church, 56, of
which were by experience, 12 by
letter and two placed under the
watchcare of the church. Pastor
Grindle was assisted in the meet
ings bj T Rev. G. J. Davis of Toccoa,
and the services aroused the most
intense interest.
Last Sunday afternoon at 3 o’
clock, Pastor Grindle baptized
fifty-two of the new converts in
rear of the mill. Fully 3000 peo
ple were present, and the scene
was a most solemn and impressive
one. Pastor Grindle is an earnest,
consecrated minister and is doing
a good work.
Went To Conference.
Rev. W. L. Pierce, presiding
elder, Pastor W. F. Quiliian, and
Delegates T. P. Hudson, Hayne
Palmour, H. L. Johnson and H.
V. Johnson from the First Metho
dist church, and Rev. W. P. KiDg
and Mr. J. S. Allen, representing
Mvrtle street church, returned
Saturday night from Monroe,
where they attended the Gaines
ville district conference. They
report a pleasant and profitable
session.
The following delegates were
elected, to the next session of the
annual conference, which meets in
Griffin: T. P.. Hudson, J. P.
Austin, G. M. Napier, Rev. S. R.
Braswell. Alternates, L. P. Jones
and J. W. Smith.
The next session of the Gaines
ville district conference will be
held with Myrtle street church in
this city.

Bids For Carrying Mails.
The government is advertising
for bids for carrying the mails be
tween the postoffice and the
Southern depot in this city, the
object of which is to arrange for a
quicker schedule than now exists.
Proposals for carrying these mails
will be received up to July 21st.

The petition of S. W. Davidson, J. C*
Piuitt and E. R. Barrett, respectfully
shows.
1.
That they desire and pray, that they
w r ith their associates and successors be
constituted a body corporate under the
laws of the State of Georgia to be
know as the
Davidson & Pruitt Hardware Co.,
and by that name to exercise all the
powers incident to a corporation under
the laws of the state.
2.
The object of said corporation is pe
cuniary profit to its stockholders, and
to carry on the business herein set
forth and to exercise the powers and
privileges herein named and prayed
for.
3.
The particular business they purpose
to carry on and for which said corpora
tion is to be constituted is, as follows:
The business of Wholesale and Retail
Merchants and Wholesale and Retail
dealers m General merchandise, Hard
ware, including Engines, Boilers, Ma
chinery, Tinware, and all kinds of
wares and merchandise, buying and
selling all kinds of wares and mer
chandise for profit.
Petitioners further pray that said
corporation be granted powers to have
and use a corporate seal. Sue and be
sued, have and own all kinds of prop
erty, both real and personal, contract,
make deeds and morgages, and such
other powers as may be incident to a
corporation.
5.
Petitioners desire to be incorporated
for the full term of twenty years, with
the privilege of renewal at the expira
tion of said time.
6.
The capital stock of said corporation
to be Twenty Four Thousand dollars,
divided into shares of one hundred dol
lars each, all of which capital stock is
paid in, but petitioners pray that said
corporation may have the privilege of
increasing its stock under regulations
to be provided in its By-Laws, at any
time, and from time to time, to an
amount not exceeding Fifty Thousand
dollars.
7.
Petitioners desire and purpose to
transact business in said county of
Hall and state of Georgia, and their
place of business and home office shall
be in said state and county, but pe
titioners pray that said corporation be
allowed to solicit orders, sell on orders
and buy and sell in any county in said
state.
8.
Petitioners pray that said corpora
tion be allowed to establish by-laws,
and by such by- laws, to provide for
the election or appointment of such of
ficers as may be necessary or conven
ient, and to provide for their powers
and privileges, their terms of office
and to provide all necessary or con
vement arrangements for said cprpo-
ration.
Wherefore petitioners pray that the
court pass an order, granting this ap
plication, and creating such corpora
tion with the rights, powers ana priv
ileges herein set forth.
