INSPECTED SITES.
Mr. Windom Viewed Lots Sub
mitted For Post Office Build
ing-—Two Lots Eliminated.
Mr. W. D. Windom, supervising and
designing architect for the treasury de
partment, arrived in the city Saturday
for the purpose of inspecting the var
ious sites submitted for postoffice pur
poses hv the citizens of Gainesville. He
went over the sites Saturday and Mon
day morning, completing his work
Monday afternoon. Two of the sites
were eliminated by Mr. Windom for
the reason that they were not large
enough. These were the Walker and
Gaston lots. Four others are now un
der consideration, viz: the Palmour,
Rudolph, Simmons, and Rich sites.
Mr. Windom stated that he would
forward his report to the treasury de
partment within the course of the next
three weeks, at the end of which time
the department would likely make it
public. The titles to whichever site is
selected will be investigated by the
attorney general’s office, and after they
have been perfected the department
will pay over the money for same, and
receive thereTor a deed to same.
Mr. Windom is on a tour of inspec
tion of postoffice sites, appropriations
for which have been made, at the fol
lowing places: Ocala, Fla., Valdosta,
Ga., Tuscaloosa, Ala., Bessemer, Ala.,
Florence, Ala., and Bluefieids, West
Virginia. He left Monday afternoon
for Oca?a, Fla.
He gave no intimation of which site
he would recommend to the depart
ment, and the public will not know
until his report has been made public
which site will be accepted. Mr. Win
dom stated that all of the four sites
now under consideration are available.
Wonderful Nerve.

pains of accidental Cuts, Wounds,
Bruises, Burns, Scalds, Sore feet or

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS.
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hale are making
it very pleasant for a large number of
gpests at White Sulphur Springs. They
have various forms of amusement in
which the guests may indulge, and
those stopping at this delightful resort
are highly pleased both with the ser
vice and the surroundings.
There are about seventy-five guests
at the resort, and many more have
written for rooms. An old-fashioned
Georgia barbecue was given to the
guests yesterday, and a dance will he
given tonight, which a number of the
young people of the city will attend.

Home Office : 305 & 306 Century Building, Atlanta, Ga.
The Southern Mutual Life Insurance Association, chartered and organized under the laws of
Georgia, the first company to put absolutely safe and sound life insurance within the reach of the
masses of the Southern people, and the only Life Insurance Association operating on our plan in
Georgia which has on deposit with the State Treasurer #20,000 in securities to secure the prompt
payment of its policies. *
Its policy is as safe and sure as a United States bond, and it costs you only six to ten
dollars per thousand, while the “old line companies” charge you #32.00.
It is sound life insurance at actual cost, because the immense profits which are charged by the
“old line companies” to pay exhorbitant salaries to officers and make their stockholders rich, are
left in the pockets of our policy holders, and yet our policy is secured by a deposit with the State
Treasurer as theirs is, and is paid more promptly than theirs.
Not a dollar of the money you pay in goes to Chicago or New York, but every dollar of it re
mains in Georgia and nearly all of it in Hall county, in the hands of J, R. Boone, the treasurer of
your home branch, who is a bonded officer, till it is paid out on a death loss to provide for the com
fort of the widow and orphans of you or one of your neighbors. One of its branches is in Gaines
ville and is under the immediate control of home men. Here are its officers :
F>. N. Parker, President,
J* R. Boone, Secretary & Treasurer,
R. E. Andoe, J. B. Gaston,
R. D. Mitcliell, J. G. Hynds, Directors.
E* H. Jewell, District Agent.
You Know Them.
Examine our plan and methods carefully and then call and get a policy, and thus protect your
wife and dependent children against possible want after you are dead. You may die tonight. Who
knows? “In the midst of life we are in death.” Are you willing to take the risk of leaving them
in want, when for 2 to 3 cents per day while you are alive you can secure for them a thousand dol
lars if you should be taken suddenly from them? For further particulars see

His Mistake.
Gushington—1 wonder what’s the
matter with Starr, the tragedian. He
never notices me any more.
Crittick—Didn’t I hear you tell him
his style was very much like Booth’s?
Gushington—Yes. But surely—
Crittick — That’s where you made
your mistake. You should have said
Booth’s style was like his.—Philadel
phia Public Ledger.
Quite Fast.
First Girl—Those stockings arc a
lovely color. Are they fast?
Second Girl—If you had seen me yes
terday when I met a cow you would
not have asked that question.—Houston
Post.
The Meaning Of Science.
The Valdosta Times undertakes to
instruct its subscribers thus: “Many
farmers are afraid of the word science,
and think the scientific farming can
only he followed by the wealthy man.
The meaning of the term science, is to
know a thing, to, know the truth, to
ascertain the facts, hence if a farmer
knows knows just how much milk or
butter a cow produces in a month he is
a scientific dairy. If he knows what it
costs to produce a bushel of potatoes or
corn, or a pound of pork, he is a scien
tific farmer. There is nothing about
the word to Scare you.”
