caused from indigestion. She was
[taken ill on Monday morning be-
jfore her death, having been con
ned to her bed five days.
Mrs. Van Hoose was a devoted
member of the Baptist church, a
juviug mother and a true neighbor,
ghe was known, honored, loved
and respected by every man, wo
man and child in Gainesville.
The funeral services were con
ducted at Breuau college Satur
day afternoon at 5 o’clock by Rev.
\V. F. Quillian, assisted by Rev.
j L. R. Barrett, Rev. J. A.
Wvnne, pastor of the First Bap
tist Church, being absent from
the city.
The followiog gentleman acted
as pall bearers J. C. McConnell,
(j, (j. Sanders, Z T, Castleberry,
J. C. Boone, John Carter, M C.
Brown and H. N. Merck.
The Rev. Mr. Quillian and the
Rev. Mr. Barrett spoke in pathet
ic terms of the Christain work and
loving deeds of kindness perform
ed by this noble woman during her
long file of usefulness to her
church, her family and her neigh
bors, and many tears were shed as
the choir sang Mrs. Van Hoose’o
favorite songs, A large congrega
tion gathered at Breneau to pay
taeir last respect to the deceased.
Alter the funeral services were
over Mrs. Van Hoose’s body was
taken to the Southern depot and
at 8:30 o’clock was sent to Eu*
faula, Ala., to be laid* to rest by
the grave of her husband.
Georgia Musical Convention.
The lilst annual session of the Geor-
? la Musical Convention convened at
Aeu Bethany church Saturday and
Sunday. There was about seven
hundred people in attendance, and it
was a great success—plenty of fine
s.nging and an abundance of every
thing good to eat.
The next convention will meet, with
Shady Grove. Forsyth county church,
first union singing with Poplar
opnngschurch, and the second union
b,u ging with Harmony church, Gwin-
Q ett county.

MRS. B. B. LANDERS
Passed Peacefully and Quietly
away Saturday Night
12 O’clock.
At 12 o’clock Saturday night
Mrs. B. B. Landers, wife of United
States Marshal B. B. Landers,
passed peacefully and quietly
away. Mrs. Landers was 39 years
of age and bad been an active
member of the Baptist church
Since her girlhood. On account of
her lovely nature and Christian
spirit, Mrs. Landers numbered her
friends by the score.
Before her marriage Mrs. Lan
ders was a Miss Carter the daugh
ter of Mr. William Carter, of the
Fork district, this county. She
is survived by her husband, Mr.
B. B. Landers, who has been
United States Deputy Marshal of
this district for several years, and
was the mother of only one child,
Mr. Joe Landers, who holds a re
sponsible position with the South
ern railroad', m Birmingham, Ala.
The funeral services were con
ducted from the First Baptist
church Sunday afternoon at 4:30
o’clock, after which her body was
laid to rest in Alta Vista ceme
tery In the absence of her pas
tor, Dr. J. A. Wynne, who 19 in
Tennessee, Rev. S. R. C. Adams,
of Atlanta, preached the funeral
sermon. A large number of friends
and relatives of the deceased
gathered at the church to pay
their last respects to this good
woman, who has been gathered to
her fathers, and passed into the
great beyond “from wheneo no
traveler e'er returns.”
Following were the pall bearers :

Thompson, R. D. Mitchell.
Mr. Mallet, of Texas, was a
prominent delegate to the popu
list convention at Denver. When
somebody mentioned Grover, Mr.
Mallet got in some healthy knocks.
