Dust! dust! dust! we need a sprinkler.
Your writer feels like he had been im

A. H. Jackson has just returned home
from a trip to Bartow county where he
attended the funeral of his father, A.
U.Jackson.
It is understood that the Eoird of
Education has said we can’t have our
winter school at this place unless there
is another house built. Why can’t we
i a high school at this place? It is
only for the like of energy and “push.”
Boys of this, and adjoining communi
ty's are continually leaving here,
spending their money to help build up
other sections when it could be done
at home. The money, stamina and
improvement that you put into your
brains will be your most paying capital.
It needs no insurance; the more you
use and spend it, the more rapidly and
vigorously it Increases. Let us get
our heads together, build a commodious
house, have an eight month’s term and
quit sending our boys aud girls away
from home to educate them.
Carrier Examination.
examination for rural carri
ers for Hall county willbeheld at
the city * publio school building
next Saturday. There are 26 ap
plicants for rural oarriers, aud the
examination will be as rigid as
heretofore. The examination is
held to provide carriers for posi

supplied by reasou of increase in
rural free delivery routes. It is
probable that a new rural free de
livery route will be established to
run out from the Gainesville post-
office at a very early date.
Now Using Chattahoochee Power.
Last Saturday afternoon the
current to famish power for the
electric line was switched from
the Chestatee power house to the
Chattahoochee power house.
That it to say, that was the in
tention of the company, but wheu
everything was ready the water
gates at the Chattahoochee dam
refused to be raised the proper
height. In the construction of
the gates and abutment, oemeut
dropped upon the cogs of the wut-
er gate and they simply would not
budge higher than a oertain point.
After the cement was ohipped
off, the gates oame up with ease.
However, the ohipping of the
cement took some little time, and
iu the meantime the cars were
stopped on the traokB. A number
pf people were at the Park, aud a
good many were at both the other
ends of the line, but they were all
