IS HOWARD THOMPSON
REALLY A GREAT
REFORMER?
This week’s issue of The.Ad-
yeriisffv Carries a paid Advertise-
ruent in the nature of an editorial
appearing in a recent issue of tlie
Gainesville News, magnifying the
accomplishments of Hon. Howard
Thompson, as MayoroiGainesville.
This is certainly a-new role in
which Mr. Thompson is ‘appearing
as we, had never heard of his being
a great moral reformer ui^tal with
in the last few weeks,although
has been in public life ever since
wjb can remember, and that lias
been nearly fifty years. We
of the opinion, though, that the
great, moral reform in Gainesville,
is due to the appointment of a
Sf ate* Health Officer, and that Mr.
Thompson’s part as Mayor has
been very small. y We congratulate
our sister city of Gainesville on
the efforts being put forth by it
iug (been elected by the people of Hall
county, the Commissioners felt they
would bo doing Captain Stringer an in
justice not to release him. The Com:
missioners here as well as the writer
know Captain Stringer-to be a man of
sterling qualities. We know’ him to be
a high class gentleman, and a man of
ability. I am writing a few personal
friends Of mine in Gainesville support
ing Captain Stringer solely on the
grounds above stated,' and hope that
you will be’ able to help him.
With'kindest regards, I am, ,
Sincerely yours,
. TATE WEIGHT. .
