The Priest Turne.i The Joke-
They tell a story of Father
O’Shea, a priest who was well
known in Washington county,
who had some local note for his
quick wit, says the Pittsburg
News. One of his Presbyterian I
friends was fond of having a joke !
with him. They met one day at
the postoffice, where there was
quite a crowd waiting for the dis- j
tribution of the mail, which had {
just arrived.
“Nice day, Father O’Shea,”
said the Presbyterian.
“It is a nice day, indeed, sir,”
replied the priest.
“I suppose you read the news of
the queer doings down in Texas?”
said the joker, interrogatively.
“I did not,” replied Father
O’Shea “What’s going on down
i there?”
“They’re hanging all the priests
j and juckasses in the state,” repli
ed the joker.
“Well, well,” commented the
priest, “it’s lucky for us. isn’t it,
that you and I are not down
there?”

Don’t spend your time grieving
over the hard times, or feeliug dis
consolate about the future. Don’t
cross the bridge until you get to it.
Better times are coming, so keep a j
cheerful countenance and speak en- j
couragingly to your neighbors and
help to encourage those with whom
yon come in contact instead of de
pressing them. If you are in debt
pay as much and as fast as you can,
and all reasonable men will be sat
isfied. Dive economically and
wait for the good times; they win
come; they will begin to circulate
and business revive.

How to Fird Out-
Fill a bottle of common glass with your
water and let it stand twenty.four hours:
a sediment or settling indicates an unheal
thy condition of the kidneys; if it stains
your linen it is evidence ot kidney trouble;
too frequent desirv to pass it or pain in
the back is also convincing proof that the
kidneys and bladyer are out of order.
WHAT TO I*o
There is comfort in the knowledge so
often expressed, that Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-
Root, tne great kidney remedy fulfills
every wish in curing rheumaiism, pain in
the back, kidneys, liver, bladder acd eve
ry part of the urinary passages, ft cor
rects inability to hold watrr and scalding
pain iu passing it, or bad effects following
nse of liduor, wine or beer, and overcomes
that unpleasant necessity of being ccm
pelled to go often during the day, and to j
get np many timss during the night The
mtld and the extraordinary effect of
Swamp>Root is soon realized. It stands
the highest for its wonderful cures of the
most distressing cases. If you need a
medicine you should have the best. At
druggists fiftv cents or one dollar.
You may have a sample bottle and a ,
