Curiously worded advert ise
ments, which are funny without
inteut, are common iu the Lon
don papers, it would seem. A
contemporary recently offered a
prize for the best collection of
such announcements, and the fol
lowing is the result:
“Annual sale now on. Don’t
go elsewhere to be cheated—come
in here 1 ”
“A lady wants to sell her piano,
as she is going abroad in a strong
iron frame."
“For sale—A pianoforte the
property of a musician with carv
ed legs.”
“Wanted —A room by two. gen
tlemen about thirty feet long aud
twenty feet broad.”
“Lost—A collie dog by a man
on Saturday evening answering to
Jim with a brass collar aroond his
r.eck aud muzzle. ”
“Wauted —By a respectable
girl, her passage to New York; ■
willing to take care of children
aud a good sailor.”
“Mr. Brown, farrier, begs to
announce that he will make up;
gowns, cape 9, etc. for ladies ont
of their own skins.” •
“Bull dog for sale; will eat any
thing; very fond of children - ”
“Wanted—An organist and a
boy to blow the same.”
“Wanted—A boy to be partly
outside and partly behind the 5
counter.”
“Wauted—For the summer, a
cottage for a small family with a
good drainage.”
“Lost—Near Highgate archwny,
an umbrella belonging to a gen
tleman with a bent rib and 11
bone handle.”
“Widow iu comfortable circum
stances wishes to marry two
sons.”
•‘To be disposed of, a mail
phaeton, the property of a man
with a movable headpiece as good
as new.”
The last is a copy of an in
scription painted on a board
which adorns a fence in Kent:
“Notis—lf* auy man’n or wo
mi'a cows gets into those here
oats, his or her tail will be cut off

What Shall We Dc.
A serious and dangerous disease pre
| vails iu this country, dangerons because
|so deceptive. It comes on so slowly yet
; surely that it is often firmly seated before
we are aware of it.
The name of this disease which may be
divided into three distinct stages is, hirst,
Kidney trouble, indicated by pain in the
back, rheumatism, lumbago, frequent de
sire to urinate, often with a burning sensa
tion, the flow of urine being copious orscant
with strong odor.
If allowed to advance, this reaches the
Second stage, or Bladder trouble, with
heavy pain in the abdomen low down be*
tween the navel and the water passage,
increasing desire to urinate, with scalding
sensation in passing small quantities be
ing passed with difficulty, sometimes
necessary to draw it with instruments. If
uric acid or gravel has formed, it. will
prove dangerous if neglected.
The Third stage is Bright's Disease.
There is comfort in knowing that Dr.
Kilmer, the great kidney and bladder
specialist, lias discovered a Remedy fam
ous for its marvelous cures of the most
distressing cases and known as Dr. Ki.-
roer’s Swamp-Root.
It is sold by all druggist^.

this great discovery, Swamp-Root, a sam

Ayer’s
Hair Vigor
Prevents Baldness
It supplies the requisite nourishment for the hair, and the hair grows. It restores the tone
of the scalp, and so induces the secretions of the follicles that the coloring'matter is renewed and
fading hair regains its natural color, dandruff disappears, and the hair becomes thick and glossy.
Men and women whose abundant hair is the envy and admiration of friends admit that they owe
it to Acer’s Hair Vigor.
“ Last winter I discovered a bald spot on my head as large as a silver dollar. A few applications of Ayer’s Hair Vigor started
a healthy growth of hair, and in a short time the disappearance of the bald spot was a subject of wonderment to my friends and
pleasure to myself." A. M. ALLEN, No. 3116 Locust bt., St. Louis, Mo,
“ I have used your Hair Vigor for a great many years and know of nothing equal to it as a hair dressing and restorer. It has
given satisfaction among my customers, who speak highly in its praise."
A. E. FIELDS, Barber, No. 45 Princess St., Kingston, O.
“1 am sixty-nine years old and have used Ayer’s Hair Vigor for fifteen years to prevent my hair from turning gray. It is an
excellent preparation for that purpose, and I shall always use it." JOHN HECHTMAN Osseo, Minn.
“ I find Ayer’s Hair Vigor to be indispensable. My hair fell out for five years, but a few applications of the Vigor stopped
it It the hair a beautiful glossy appearance, and I also found that it did not affect curling or crimping."
M. E. SNYDER, Brantford, Ont.
