Vaughan, a leading dry goods merchant and one of the owners of the new flour ing mill here, happened to an ac cident yesterday in which he lost his hand and was narrowly saved, as every one believes, from a hor rible death. He was standing over the wheat aollers at the mill, which had just started for the first time, aud in a spirit of interest was brushing loose wheat grains between the rollers with his hand when that member was suddenly caught, drawn between the rollers and mashed to a pulp. Mr. J. W. Knight, his partner, seeing his peril, by mam force pulled Mr. Vaughan from the grip of the roll ers, litterally tearing the hand from the body as he did so. With out assistance his whole arm and probably his body wotld have been drawn between the rollers. Calico 8 to 5c at Joe Austins.
