Gen. Nichols, of New Orleans,
was well known throughout the
southern states as one of the
bravest officers in the Confederate
armv. He sacrificed an eye. a leg
and an arm to the cause which he
believed just, and came out of the
war, as he declared, “only half a
man.” But the half that was left
enjoyed a joke as keenly as ever.
Science replaced the lost members
go successfully that nobody who
was ignorant of his misfottune
could detect it.
The G-neral often t dd the fol

Stopping at a hotel in Mobile a
negro boy was detailed to help him
prepare for bed. After his bag
was unpacked, and his coat laid
aside, he said: “Now, Sam, take
off my leg.”
Sam stared speechlessly.

He took it out. Sam backed to

“Now, Sam, take off my head.”
Sam rushed out of the room to

This certifies that my wife has
been afflicted for a period of 18
yqars, at times in bed for 3 or 4
months. I decided to employ Dr.
Edward Banks, of Bowman, Ga.,
to treat her, and desire to say tiiat
her relief has been wonderful. Du
ring her affliction she has been
treated by more than a dozen phy

that she feels better than since her
marriage, a period of 18 years. Dr.
Banks has also treated me, and I
am frank to say that I have been
wonderfully relieved. I cheerfully
recommend Dr. Batiks to all af

and see for yourself.
