Elbertun has within her burners
two ui mi that would |>ut mns I my
, old thing to shame when it comes
*to eating. And they are different
classes. One is comparatively an
old man, while the other Inis just
reached his majority.
The old man in question is I ncle
Andrew Cleveland, the champion
combination chewer.
Thursday Unice Andrew went
home feeling a little hungry, so
he says. He tourthwith knifed a
twenty pound watermelon, of
which he ate half, after which lie
went out to the orchard, where he
made away with eighty peaches
when he stopped counting. On
returning to the house he anxious
ly inquied of his wile when din
ner would be ready. He was dis
satisfied with the delay, but held
his peace until he was ushered in
to the dining room, when he
wreaked his vengeau ;e by eating
an enormous amount ot corn,
tomato-s, Irish potatoes, cabbage
and desert. He was still hungry
and capped the clmax by devour
ing the rest of the watermelon,
eating more pie and drinking
three glasses of sweet milk. And
still he lives and is happy !
Will Jordan is no snide, either
when it comes to chewing —especi-
ally fried chiken. A few days ago
he and John Brewer made a wagpr
as to the amout he could eat and
set a day for the eating. Four nice
fryers were prepared for tiie event.
There were thiry-four pieces of
chicken in all and Will devoured
thirty-two of them, ten biscuits,
a cantaloup and watermelon. Will
eays Jhe would have eaten the
remaining two pieces of fowl if it
hadn’t looked too much like a bog.
He still sells ice.
Henry Snelliugs, who is some
what of an eater himself, is train -
ing and will soon attmpt to eclipse I
these records —Elberton Star

My son follow not in the foot
steps of the loafer and make no
example of him who is born tired,
for verily I say unto thee, their
business is overstocked and the
seats on the corner a # re all taken
and whittling places are all occu
pied . It is better to saw wood at

a loafing match and cuss the gov
ernment. My son while thou hast
left iu thy skull the sense of a jay
bird, break away from the cigarette

appearance is less iu intelligence

QUESTION ANSWERED
Yes, August Flower still has the
largest sale of any medicine in the
civilized world. Your mothers
and grandmothers never thought
I of using anything else for ludiges
-1 tion or Billiousness. Doctors were
Bcarce, aud they seldsm heard of
Appendecitis, Nervous Prostration
or Heart Failure, etc. They used
August Flower to clean out the
system aud stop fermentation of
undigested food, regulate the ac-
tion of the liver, stimulate the
nervous and organic action of the
system, and that is all they took
when feeling dull and bad with
headaches aud other aches. Y r ou
only need a few doses of Green’s
August Flower, in liquid form, to
make you satisfied there is noth
ing serious the matter with you.

LADIES, WHY DON’T YOU?

PATENT MEDICINES ?
From Sylvan Valley News, ltn-Ti-»ct N.C.
“It may be a question whether
the editor of a newspaper has the
right to publicly recommeud any
of the various proprietary medi
cines which flood the market, yet
as a preveutitive of suffering we
feel it a duty to say a good word
for Chamberlain’s Colic, Cholera
and Diarrhoea Remedy. We have
known and used this medicine in
our family for twenty years and
have always found it reliable In
many cases a dose of this remedy
would save hours of suffering while
a physician is awaited. We do
not believe in depending implicit
ly on auy medicine for a cure, but
we do believe that if a bottle of
Chamberlain’s Diarrhoea Remedy
was kept on hand and adminis
tered at the inception of an attack
much uiifferiug might be avoided,
aud in very many cases the pres
ence of a physician would uot be
required. At least this has been
our experience during the past
twenty years. ” For sale by Bag

PREVENTED A TRAGEDY
Timely information given Mrs.
George Long, of New Straitsville,
Ohio, prevented a dreadful tragedy
and saved two lives. A frightful
cough had long kept her awtke ev
ery night. She had tried many rem
edies aud doctors but steadily
grew worse, until urged to try Dr.
King’s New Discovery. One bottle
wholly cured her, aud she writes
this marvelous medicine also cured
Mr. Long of a severe attack of
Pneumonia. Such cures are posi
tive proof of the matchless merit
of this grand remedy for curing
all throat, chest and lung troubles.
