Moses and Mahomet were op
posed to the hog because, while it
divides the hoof and is cloven-hoof
ed, yet it, chews not the cud. The
camel is not eaten for opposi e
reasons —it chews the cud, but it
is not cloven-footed. The hare is
also unclean, because while it
cnews the cud it divitles not tin
lioof. AH civilized nations linvi-
passed and repassod laws govern
ing what a man shall eat and hoe
much it shall cost him, but the
only sumptuary mesure that over
stood the test of time is the law of
Moses concerning the hog. It has
been on the statute book for 3,890
years.
Phil Armour has packed more

The first buggy ever owned in
Walton county was owned by a
man named Brimbeary in the
year 1849. Col. Whitedead own
ed the second, also in 1849. About
that time Harvey Treadwell open
ed a buggy shop on Jack’s Creek
where Thurman Cook now' lives,
and began the manufacture of bug
gies by the wholesale, selling them
at S2OO each. Since that time
Walton county has been well sup
plied with buggies, though the
price has come down.—Walton

’The Tattnall Journal is re
sponsible for the following:—
“There is a county out in Kansas
in which the farmers make so
much corn that they use it for
heating and cooking purposes. A
writer in one of our exchanges
in speaking of the town in which
tie lived tayß: ‘Most of the streets
are paved, grains of corn being
used for cobblestones, while the
cobs are hollowed out and used for
sewer pipe. The husk, when taken
off whole and stood on end makes
a nice tent for tfie children to
play in It sounds queer to hear
the feed man tell the driver to take
a dozen grains of horse feed over
to Jacksou’B livery stable. I don’t
see how they ever would harvest
corn as the stalks grow up in air
as high as a Methodist church
steeple. However, when the ears
got too heavy, their weight presses
the stalk down into the ground on
an average of 92 feet; this brings
the ear near enough to the ground
to be chopped off with an axe.’
“That county may be a better
coru county than Tattnall, but it
is only for the reason that there
are bigger liars in Kansas than in
Tattnall.”
QUESTION ANSWERED.
Yes, August Flower still has the
largest sale of any medicine in the
civilized world. Your mothers
and grandmothers never thought
of using anything else for Indiges
tion or Billiousness. Doctors were
scarce, and they seldsm heard of
Appendecitis, Nervous Prostration
or Heart Failure, etc. They used
August Flower to clean out the
system aud stop fermentation of
undigested food, regulate the ac
tion of the liver, stimulate the
nervous and organic action of the
system, and that is all they took
when feeling dull and bad with
headaches and other aches. You
only need a few doses of Green’s
August Flower, in liquid form, to
make you satisfied there is noth
ing serious the matter with yon.

PREVENTED A TRAGEDY.
Timely information given Mrs.
George Long, of New Straitsville,
Ohio, prevented a dreadful tragedy
and saved two lives. A frightful
cough had long kept her awcke ev
ery night. She had tried many rem
edies and doctors but steadily
grew worse, until urged to try Dr.
King's New Discovery. One bottle
wholly cured her, and she writes
this marvelous medicine also cured
Mr. Long ol a severe attack of
Pneumonia. Such cures are posi
tive proof of the matchless merit
of this grand remedy for curing
all throat, chest and lung troubles.
