Langley in This District.
FIGHT OCCURRED IN HARBINS
There Was a Tie Between the Candidates
For J. P. at Norcross and Consta
bles at Sugar Hill.
The election for justices of the
peace and constables took place in
Gwinnett county last Saturday
and passed off quietly in the main,
there being one fight recorded in
Harbins district.
One justice was elected from
each militia district, who is to
serve four years, together with two
constables, whose terms of office
are for two years only.
In the Lawrenceville district a
little friendly rivalry was on be
tween the two candidates for jus
tice and five aspirants for consta
ble, S. A. Hagood defeating W.
M. Langley for justice by fifteen
votes. The latter has filled that
office for the last eight years. J.
C. C. Davis and J. B. Mills easily
led the race for constables. There
were 233 votes polled at the town
precinct.
At Norcross or Pinkneyville pre
cinct, there was a tie between J.
W. Haney and W. T. Nesbitt for
JOHN B. BROGDON, Suwanee. Georgia.

Books Found.
The son of ’Squire W. M. Lang
ley was out hunting last week and
as he was passing through a swamp
some two miles east from town he
chanced to come across a large
bundle, securely wrapped, and
bearing an express tag. The
point in the swamp where the
package was found is about a half
mile from the Seaboard road, two
miles east of Lawrenceville. Upon
examination, it was found to be a
lot of song books. They had been
there for some time, as the writing
on the package was indistinct,
and the books partly ruined by
water. So far as they could tell
there were forty-two books, of
which number about twenty-eight
are serviceable. The books are
the Revival No. 2 and 3.
How the books got into the
swamp is unknown. They must
have been taken from some ex
press office and lost.
