THURSADY AFTERNOON.
$40.00 PER MINUTE
John D. Rockefeller Wakes Each
Day $50,000 Richer.
NEXT DIVIDEND MARCH 15
Standard Oil Stockholders Will Have Re
ceived $68,000,000 Within
380 Days.
New York, February 9, 1901. —
The Standard Oil Company y«p
terday declared a dividend of 20
per cent., payable March 15. This
ia at the rate of 68 per cent, since
March 1, 1900.
The Standard Oil Company thus
will have distributed among its
stockholder S6B 000,000 within
the space of one year and fifteen
days. Of this sum John D. Rock
efeller will have received $21,000,-
000, more than $55,000 a day, or
about S4O a minute .
Mr. Rockefeller’s ' wealth has
piled up so astonishingly that even
ihe great money kings of Wall
street are marveling. His avail
able cash has become such a factor
in Wall street that, according to
one of the best judges of the mar
ket, all chance has been entirely
eliminated from the transactions
ill the stock exchange.
Mr. Rockefeller can put up
stocks or put them down, as he
chooses. No combination in Wall
street is strong enough to defeat
his plans. 1
Despite Mr. Rockefeller’s power
in Wall street, he is practically
unknown personally to most of
the frequenters of the money dis
trict. He comes down by the“L”
road and seldom is recognized as
he hurries through the Arcade of
the Empire Building and walks
with a brisk step to No. 26 Broad
way, where his ollices are.
GLORIOUS NEWS
Comes from Dr. B. Cargile, of
Washita, I. T. Ho writes* “Four
bottles of Electric Bitterß has
cured Mrs. Brewer of scrofula,
which had caused her great Butter
ing for years. Terrible Borei would
bieak out on her heat and face,
and the best doctors could give no
help, but her cure is complete and
her health is excellent.” This
shows what thousands have proved
—that Eleceric Bitters is the best
blood purifier. It’s the supreme
remedy for eczema, tetter, salt
rheum, ulcers, boils and running
sores. It stimulates liver, kidneys
and bowels, expels poisons, helps
digestion build up strength. Only

LaGRIPPE QUICKLY CURED.
“In the winter of 1898 and 1899 I
was taken dowu with a severe
attack of what is called La-
Grippe,” says F. S. Hewott, a
prominent druggist of Winfield,
111. “The only medicine I used
was two bottles of Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy. It broke up the
cold and stopped the coughing like
magic, and I have never since
been troubled with Giippe. ”
Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy can
always be depended upon to break
up a severe cold and ward off any
threatened attack of pneumonia.
It is pleasant to take, too, which
makes it the most desirable and
one of the most popular prepara
tions in use for these ailments.

T. W. Wood & Sons, Seedsmen,

their New Catalogue of Seeds for ;
the Farm and Garden. This firm j
has established for itself a high
reputation throughout the South,
which will be enhanced by the fact
that it has been honored by the
award of u gold medal at the Paris
exposition. Wood’s Seeds are sold
j m every state of south and south
west, and their trade throughout
the country has steadily and con
stantly grown from year to year
until now they sell more seeds
than any other house doing busi
ness in the South. To have at
tained such proportions, the seeds
they sent out must have been reli
able and good. This has been
their policy iu the past, and it will
be their practice in the present and
future. Not the cheapest, but the
best, is their motto. The differ
ence between the cost of the seed
and value of the crop when raised
is so great that no one can afford
to sacrifice the crop for the sake of
the saving of a few cents in the
cost of the seed. Send to Messrs.

their catalogue, and you will find
it full of helpful and useful infor
mation to all farmers and garden
