THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
Along Our Exchanges.
From the Walton Tribune.
It is reported that Mr. John
Bostwick will build a roller flour
ing mill at Bostwick,in this county.
The Tribune hopes the report is
true, and believes Mr. Bostwick
will find this a very profitable in
vestment.
Mr. Woodson Lunsford, living
near Nunnaliy, died last Saturday.
Mr. Lunsford was a son of Mrs. E.
Lunsford, and was twenty-one
years of age. He was married and
his wife survivep him. Mr. Luns
ford was an estimable and popular
young man, and his death is deep
ly regretted by a large circle of
friends. His remains were interr
ed on Monday in the Malcome
cemetery.
Bob Griffeth, a negro well known
in Walton county, was killed in
the north-western part of Oconee
county last Saturday. Mr. Gaua
way Malcome, formerly a leading
citizen of this county, who now re
sides in Oconee, operates a sawmill
which is hauled from place to
place by a traction engine. Grif
feth was riding on the engine, and
in some way fell off and under the
wheels, which passed over his head
and shoulders, crushing him to
death. A loaded wagon which the
engine was drawing also passed
over his body, horribly mangling
it.
From the Winder Economist.
J. J. Carr came back from Wat
kinsville court looking well and
hearty. He gained in flesh from
eating for a week the good meals
that Uncle Swep Billups always
gives to his patrons.
Old Aunt Easter Perkins, col
ored, will be buried here today.
She lived in Walton county, and
at her death was said to be 107
years old.
Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Eley, of near
Galilee, left this week for Corsica
na, Texas, where they will make
their future home. Mr. Eley has
been a resident of this county for
about twenty-one years, and his
friends here regretted to see him
leave.
Dr. W. H. Bush will begin some
time this year the erection of a
large two-story granite building
which will be used for the manu
facture of Mrs. Bush’s Specific.
He intends that this structure
shall be the most handsomq and
imposing one ever erected in Win
der. Dr. Bush is a hustler and
keeps the ball rolling all the
time.
From the Jackson Herald.
Rev. H. B. Mays united in the
holy bonds of matrimony at the
home of E. D. Whelcbel in Clarks

W. K. Vandiver and Mrs. M. J.
Thompson were married Tuesday

surprise to their friends. The bride

a short while after their union.
She has the best wishes of her
many friends.
Mr. John Baugh, who was on the
jury last week, and who is an ex
cellent neighbor and good citizon,
is possibly the best living example
of a man who learned Jthe maxim,
“Stay at home and attend to your
own business,” in early childhood
and then lived up to it. He is
now 47 years old and has, therefore
lived nearly a half century and
this is the fourth time he has beeu
in Gainesville —his county site—
notwithstanding he was boru and
raisod within eight miles of the
place. He says the farthest away
from home he has been during his
entire life is Shoals in Banks, our j
sister county. This is a most sin-1
gular record of an honorable citi- j
zen of Hall county, which we
challenge auy other couDty in the
state to excel. Had not the jury
revisers recognized his worth and
called him into public service his
fourth visit to the city might have
been deferred for many years yet.

Resolutions PsiMd by tbs L. P. Thomas
Chapter Daughters of the Con
federacy. Norcrosc. Ga.,
February 2nd-
For the first time in its existence of
nearly two years, the angel of death has
visited the chapter, and our little band
is broken. It is with deep sorrow we
record the death of our treasurer, Mrs.
Maud Lively Ewing. Mrs. Ewing was
one of the charter members, and by her
quiet dignity of character and lovely
disposition she has endeared herself to
every member of the chapter, and by
her unflagging interest and efficiency
in the performance of her duties, won
our deepest admiration.
Almost the last work of her life was
devoted to the cause she loved so well,
when, on January 19th, she contributed
so much to the pleasure and success of
our Lee anniversary.
Whereas, God, in His infinite wis
dom, has taken from us our beloved
comrade. Therefore, be it

spread upon the minutes of the chap

Pneumonia Can Be Prevented.
This disease always results from a
cold or an attack of the grip
and may be prevented by the
timely use of Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy. That remedy was
exten lively used during the
epidemics of LaGrippe of the past
few years, aod not a single case
has ever been reported that did not
recover or that resulted in
pneumonia, which shows it to be a
certain preventive of that
dangerous disease. Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy has gained a world
wide reputation for its cures of
cold and grip. For sale by
