SPECIAL SESSION OF THE LE
GISLATURE.
There are rumors going the
rounds of thep ress of the state that
there is an organized movement to
defeat any tax legislation which may
be brought before the special ses
sion of the legislature which con
vened November 7th. It has been
intimated in these reports or rumors
that the purpose of those interested
in the movement o defeat any pro
posed tax measure is coming irom
the political enemies of Governor
Walker to embarrass him and his ad
ministration. Whether these re
ports are true or not, there seems to
be moulding, through some process,
opposition to any bill which may be
introduced looking towards a sane
and substantial tax measure. It is
to be deplored that such a condi
tion should arise in this state and
the member of the legislature guilty
of such conduct should be impeached
and removed from office. Whether
a representative ha spolitical aspira
tions or whether or he has political
designs on the governor to aid in
bringing opposition to him next year
is not a matter which should be
brought into this al-important spe
cial session of the legislature. This
call was issued by the governor for
the specific purpose of giving to
Georgia a tax system which will pro
vide a sufficiency for the support of
its educational institutions and for
the maintenance of the various de
partments of the governmen.
Whether it was a wise action on the
part of the governor in calling an
extra session is not a debatable oues
tion at this time. T he call has been
issued and' a specific purpose has
been stated in the call and it is a du
ty and obligation the representa
tives owe to the people of Georgia
to meet and work out some form of
taxation which will bring in to the
treasury of Georgia a sufficiency to
meet the expenses of the state and
to meet the indebtedness accrued.
The people of Georgia will not sub
mit to wrangling and bickering on
the part of representatives for po
litical purposes, but they will expect
them to enter into the session for
the purpose of passnig tax legisla
tion which will relieve the poverty
stricken condition the state is now in.

Begin on Salts
Flush Your Kidneys Occasionally
by Drinking Quarts of
Good Water
No man or woman can make a mis
take by flushing the kidneys occasion
ally, says a well-known authority. Too
much rich food creates acids which clog
the kidney pores so that they sluggishly
filter or strain only part of the waste
and poisons from the blood. Then you
get sick. Rheumatism, headaches, liver
trouble, nervousness, constipation, dizzi
ness, sleeplessness, bladder disorders
often come from sluggish kidneys.
The moment you feel a dull ache in
the kidneys or your back hurts, or if
ithe urine is cloudy, offensive, full of
sediment, irregular of passage, or at
tended, by a sensation of scalding, begin
to drink soft water in quantities; also
get about four ounces of Jad Salts from
any reliable pharmacy and take a table
spoonful in a glass of water before
breakfast for a few days and your kid
neys may then act fine.
This famous salts is made from the
acid Of grapes and lemon juice, com
bined with lithia, and has been used
for years to help flush clogged kidneys
and stimulate them to activity, also to
help neutralize the acids in the system
so they no longer cause irritation, thus
often relieving bladder disorders.
Jad Salts is inexpensive and can not
injure; makes a delightful effervescent
lithia-water drink, which everyone can
take now and then to help keep t e
kidneys clean and the blood-pure, thereby
often preventing serious kidney compli
cations. Bv all means have your physi
dan examine your kidneys at least
twice a year.

SALSBURY
Cotton Planting Seed
For Heavy Production and Early
Maturity. A- NEW YARIEIY
SALSBURY IS DISTINCT
SALSBURY is a distinct variety —the result of eight years’ plant breeding by Profes
sor J. W. Fox and Mr. C. E. Ewing, the experts of the Delta and Pine Land Co. at Scott,
Miss. Commencing with an extra-early heavy-fruiting strain of Wannamaker-Cleve
land, these men have worked untiringly year after year selecting and cross-breeding,
keeping the best and eliminating the undesirable, until they produced SALSBURY,
which we believe to be a perfect cotton. It has all the desirable qualities of an early big
boll short cotton; still, is worth a good premium in any market. -
GOOD SEED PAYS
We believe in good seed. Just one extra boll to
the stalk with an average stand, and cotton worth
only 20c per pound, means $12.00 an acre gained.
Just one extra boll to the stalk will pay for sev
eral bushels of good strong new seed.
SALSBURY will give you many extra bolls to
the stalk.
DELINTING
An Important Feature of Our
Seed Service
Why It Pays to Buy Delinted Seed
They require less moisture to germinate.
They are cleaner —no trash.
They are easier planted.
They drop freely.
Le*» seed are required to the acre.
Do not clog and cause skips.
They germinate more uniformly.
They insure a more uniform stand.
You get 10 per cent more seed.
You Get More For Your Money
It takes 2,200 pounds of ordinary seed to make
a ton of Delinted Seed. We save you 200 pounds
of lint and dust and dirt, which you buy when get
ting undeleted seed. In other words: We save
you 10 per cent Read how "THE PROGRESSIVE
FARMER"
Advises Planting Delinted Seed
“When the soil and air are warm and the soil 'is
in good condition, the plants from delinted seed
will come up several days earlier than the plants
from ordinary seed. When the soil is damp and
cold, dry and cold or poorly prepared, a good stand
will frequently be secured from delinted seed
where land planted with common seed will have to
be replanted. Replanting is seldom profitable—it
means failure where there is boll weevil.
"Delinted seed drops evenly like corn. There are
no skips. Ordinary seed mats up in the planter
and the skips are frequent. This evenness of plant
ing from delinted seed increases the yield 10 to 25
per cent. When a hard crust forms on the soil
after planting, the plants from delinted seed are
so thick and evenly placed that they will usually
lift the crust and grow. The plants from seed
having short lint generally start unevenly and are
spaced unevenly so that they die before they can
get through a hard crust.”
Under boll weevil condition, there i. grief enough
in cotton farming without worrying about a *tand.
Delinted Seed
improves Your Chances
50 Per Cent
Delinting Changes the Appearance
In delinting the pretty white lint is taken off,
and delinted seed have a rather shabby seal-brown
appearance. If one were buying for LOOKS one
would not select the Delinted Seed.
We have been delinting our own planting seed
for ten years. During that time we have never lost
a stand or had to replant on account of poor ger
mination. This year we sent out a request to peo
ple who had planted Delinted Seed asking how they
liked them. We received over 800 replies, 98 per
cent of which stated that the Delinted Seed came
up all the way from two days earlier to fifteen days
earlier.

Memphis, Tenn. Dear Sir.:
Your SALSBURY Cotton, the »eed of which 1 purcha»ed last Spring, did fine for the season. I did
not get many bale., a. crop wa* short, but those I did get .old readily at proper premiums, and the
demand was good for it; while 1 have not sold any of my long staple cotton yet.
SALSBURY Cotton is just what is needed for our farmers. It gave a prolific yield from the field,
ginned a high percentage in lint and had a good body, selling at a premium. I believe you are work
ing at the proper thing for us in the good upland sections. I have saved all my seed pure, and will
plant heavier of this cotton next year, Ycurs truly,

DIRECT FROM GROWER
Every seed offered for sale by us has been
grown on our plantation, under the personal su
pervision of Professor J. W. Fox. We do not farm
out any seed or buy from other growers for the
purpose of re-sale. After our supply is exhausted
we are out of the market.
SALSBURY is a small seed cotton, there being
25 per cent more seed to the bushel by actual count
than in a bushel of average variety. Every fanner
knows that small seed makes more plants to the
bushel, and that a small seed variety germinates
more readily.
It is of vital importance that the quality and quantity of the cotton of our section should be kept
at the highest standard. A county with a reputation for growing fine cotton always has plenty of
buyers—competition brings top prices. After thoroughly investigating SALSBURY Cotton ami the
high Standing of the firm that produces it, we believe its introduction would be a great benefit to
our community and have undertaken its distributon in this vicinity.

AMERICA’S LARGEST PLANTA
TION GROWS SALSBURY
EXCLUSIVELY
The Delta & Pine Company are not
seed merchants. They are the largest
cotton planters in the world. They
maintain their own Experiment De
partment under the direction of Pro
fessor J. W. Fox and Mr. C. E. Ewing,
where every known variety of cotton is
tested under PRACTICAL CONDI
TIONNS each year. They go to this
great expense that they may knew the
most profitable cotton to plant on their
plantations.
Their Experiment Department tells
them SALSBURY is the most profita
ble cotton in existence. The proof they
believe this to be true is that they will
plan over 25,(KM) acres in SALSBURY
cotton next year. If they could find a
more profitable cotton than SALS
BURY they would adopt it at once.
They have produced SALSBURY cot
to not to sell the seed, but’to grow the
cotton on their own plantations. They
have a great deal more at stake in the
profits from 25,000 acres of cotton than
from a few cars of seed each Fall.

SALSBURY cotton was worth on that date. With
this year’s premium it should have been worth on
Sept. 8, about thirty-one to thirty-five cents.
McCOOL, MISS.—I made a half bale of cotton
per acre with SALSBURY when other cottons
would have taken from two to ten acres, with the
same weevil infestation. I am sure that the de
linted seed you sent gave a much better stand, and,
of course, that is a great advantage in giving a
good yield. , i lmmd.dc.
J. D. BLACK,

RIDGELAND, MISS.—I had six acres in SALS
BURY Cotton. Of course, the weather was bad
and I did not expect very much. However, it is as
good cotton as I ever raised on this field. Will
make over four bales of 500 lbs. each, and I intend
to save every seed —so you know I like the cotton.
W. L. EVANS.
NORTH CARROLLTON. MISS.—I am well
pleased with SALSBURY. ' I will save all my seed
for planting next year. This county has the worst
crop in its history. It will do well to average 1%
bales to the mule. I did not poison, as I wanted to
see just how SALSBURY would stand the weevil. I
planted 2% acres in SALSBURY on very ordinary
'.and, and will pick 1,700 lbs. of seed cotton.
R. A. BILLUPS.
LAURENS, S. C.—The SALSBURY I have
planted will make a bale of cotton per acre, and if
we had not had such a long dry spell I am satisfied
we would have made a bale-and-a-half per acre for
every acre I have planted in SALSBURY cotton.
Z. R. TRAYNHAM.
TALLADEGA, ALA.—I consider SALSBURY
Cotton as fine a quality of cotton as I ever grew.
Although this has been such an unfavorable year,
late planting, late cultivation, boll weevil and army
worm—but with all this trouble SALSBURY is
making a good yield. J. T. D. CATER.
LAURENS, S. C.—l have some friends who
planted SALSBURY Cotton, and who are well
pleased with it also, and I believe there will be
more SALSBURY planted in this vicinity next
year. I have 4 % acres that I believe will make 5
bales at least. —’ ' '*
A. H. MOORE.
ALTHEIMER, ARK.—The SALSBURY Cottdn
on my place is the best up to now; second,
and third. We have had tl>e same rains in
our section as you have had in Mississippi, and our
crop has been hard hit in the last four weeks by
the weevil. I like the SALSBURY Cotton better
than any inch-and-an-eighth cotton I have ever
planted, and intend to plant more next year.
DK. A. D. MIMS.
CRENSHAW, MISS.—I have a white tenant who
is an extra farmer, whop lanted SALSBURY seed
this year, and he tells me that he would not plant
any other cotton unless he could not obtain your
seed. H. D. CRENSHAW.
LAURENS, S. C.—l have five acres planted in
SALSBURY seed. Up to date we have picked 2V4
bales on the five acres, and I think we will get ZVi
more bales, if not more. I like the seed fine.
DR. R. R. WALKER.
J.AKE VILLAGE, ARK.—I ordered the seed
from you for some Italian farmers. I talked to one
today, and he was very enthusiastic. He planted
8 acres of SALSBURY and says he will get 8 bales.
Another one says had he put his entire one-man
crop in SALSBURY he would have made 3 bales
more. W. A. McCLUNG.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA.—I think I will average
1,000 lbs. of seed cotton to the acre with my
SALSBURY cotton, while the others will average
around 500 lbs. J. N. MILLER.
SHREVEPORT, LA.—Some of the members in
terested in this concern have been planting your
SALSBURY Cotton Seed, and are very much
pleased with it. We believe it should have a big
sale in this territory for next year.
