Page Two The News-Herald Lawrenceville, Georgia Published Monday and Thursday $5.50 A YEAR IN*ADVANCE. D. M. BYRD. Editor V. L. HAGOOD New* Editor and General Manager J. L. COMFORT, Supt. Official Organ Gwinnett County, City of Lawrenceville, U. S. Court. Northern DUtriet of Georgia. Entered at the Post Office at Law renceville, Georgia, as Second Class Mail Matter, under the act of Con gress of March 3rd, 1879. THE REWARD OF WORK. The sudden and untimely death of Alfred H. Smith, president of the New York Central railroad, whose fall from ahorse in Central Park, New York, proved instantly fatal, brings to light the high points in the life of one of America’s most re markable executives, andi n this res pect offers an inspiration to the young men of today that should ana no doubt will serve most usefully. At 14 years of age Mr. Smith was an errand boy in the offices of the Lake Shore railroad at $4 a week. This did not appeal to him. It was too easy. At 19 he became a section hand, swinging pick and shovel, at $1.50 a day. He sought this job de liberately because it offered him an opportunity for real physical work. In six years from that day he was made superintendent of the Lake Shore’s Kalamazoo division, and 12 yearo later, at the age of 37, he was made general superintendent of the Now York Central. At 51 he was president of the New York Central and all subsidiary lines, with aggre gate salaries of more than SIOO,OOO a year. Mr. Smith’s fortunes turned the very day he deliberately sought a work job. The penchant for work re mained with him until the last, and no railroad executive in America de voted himself more ardously to his duties, or worked with a clearer un derstsanding or a better trained mind to the field of endeavor to ■which he consecrated his life from section hand to executive. He had a keen conception of the necessary relations between the road and the people, and in seeking pub lic cooperation he paved the way by giving it He kept the, public in his confidence; he played square; ho was always faithful. The penniless youth of today need not despair of the future if the char acter is right, the will ta work is keen, the determination backed by unerring fidelity. What Alfred H. Smith, the section hand, did, others can do. There is comfort in hard work. It is the youth who seeks work rather than a sine cure who eventually succeeds.—At lanta Constitution. HALL'S CATARRH MEDICINE con sists of an Ointment which gives Quick Relief by local application, and the Internal Medicine, a Tonic, which acts through the Blood on the Mucous Sur faces and assists In ridding your System of Catarrh. Sold by druggists for over to Tears. F. J. Cheney £ Co., Toledo. O. Why Millions of People Are Now Using PRUNITONE World’s Fruit Tonic and System Purifier is because it is an exceptional remedy and for this reason we have adopted an unusual plan of selling it, by placing one exclusive agent in each place, in this way you are always assured when you wish to purchase Prunitone that you will not be offered some inferior remedy which the unscrupulous dealer may say is “just a* good*' simplv because he makes a few cents more profit on the INFERIOR REMEDY. Prunitone is made from Prunes which are known as the “Fruit of Health.” They contain Vitamines, Iron and laxative properties. To these have been added Roots and Herbs to aid in increasing the appetite and restore the run-down nervous condition, to aid in inducing sleep and to strengthen and build up vitality, energy and endurance. Then there has been added Iron to aid in transforming the white life less corpuscles to rich, red ones and in this way transform thin, pale, weak aenemic people to robust, rosy-cheeked men, women and children. Prunitone will be found beneficial to old and young. Old people who have lost their strength and energy, tire easily, can’t sleep nights, have cold sweats, troubled with Rheumatism or Gout should commence to take this wonderful fruit tonic at once and if troubled with constipation use Prunitone Pills each night on retiring until the liver is active, then simply use them to keep the bowels regular. After you have taken Prunitone for a week just see how much farther you can walk than you could before you started taking it, then continue this same test until you have regained your normal strength, energy and endurance. For pale, weak, unnourished children mothers will find Prunitone a most valuable remedy in aiding to correct assimilation which is too often the cause of children who should be strong, rosy-cheeked boys‘and girls to worry along pale, frail and lifeless, day after day, worrying their parents for fear they will not be able'to raise them. Ninety per cent, of these cases are caused, I should say, from poor assimilation of foods. Don’t wait, don’t delay until these dear ones are beyond the help of any medicine but run to the Drug Store at once, buy a bottle of Prunitone and just watch the child improve in color, and in fact, every way. Prunitone proves wonderfully effective in the treatment of Rheuma tism. Wm. B. Caulson of Rochester, N. Y., says: “After he had had suf fered for five years with Rheumatism and had tried all kinds of remedies for relief and more than a dozen doctors treated me, one day I saw an ad vertisement on Prunitone and I decided that it was just the remedy I need ed and immediately commenced taking Prunitone and Prunitone Pills and before I had completed my first bottle the soreness commenced to go out of my joints. I did not feel the old aches and pains on arising and in two weeks’ time I was walking to work without my cane, something I had not done before for two years. I had a great deal of trouble after eating a heavy meal, now that feeling is gone and I never have had such an appetite since I was a boy. I am recommending Prunitone to all of my friends as I believe it is a blessing to have such a remedy. Use Prunitone Pills for Chronic Constipation PRUNITONE LABORATORIES, BOSTON 48, MASS. FEW FOLKS HAVE GRAY HAIR NOW Drug.gist Says Ladies Are Using Recipe of Sage Tea and Sulphur Hair that loses its'color and lustre, or when it fades, turns gray, dull and lifeless, is caused by a lack of sulphur in the hair. Our grandmother made up ai mixture of Sage Tea and Sulphur to keep her locks dark and beautiful, and thousands of women and men who value that even color, that beautiful dark shade of hair which is so at tractive, use only this old-time recipe. Nowadays we get this famous mix ture improved by the addition of other ingredients by asking at any drug store for a bottle of “Wyeth’s Sage and Sul phur Compound,” which darkens the hair so naturally, so evenly, that no body can possibly tell it has been ap plied. You just dampen a sponge or soft brush with it and draw this through your hair, taking one small strand at a time. By morning the gray hair disappears; but what delights the ladies with Wyeth’s Sage and Sulphur Compound is that, besides beautifully darkening the hair after a few applica tions, it also brings back the gloss and lustre and gives it an appearance or abundance.
