Turner, of Su wanee, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Teague. Mrs. -J. S. Bailey, of Decatur, is spending some time with Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Herrington. Mrs. S. M. Allen, who has been the guest of her daughter, Mrs. John I. Kelley, is in Jackson. Misses Anne and Nelle Bagwell, of Atlanta, spent Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Jennie Bagwell. Mrs. \Y. L. Shadburn and Miss Ferrell Shadburn, of Buford, were Sunday guests of Mrs. A. T. Green. Mrs. H. E. Hayes and children, of Florida, are expected shortly and will spend some time with relatives here. Mrs. E. G. Kent and children re turned this morning from Decatur where they spent several days pleas antly. Mrs. Marvin Franklin and child ren have returned home after hav ing spent several weeks with rela tives at Athens. Master Hal Pentecost left Friday with his cousin, Mrs. Elizabeth White, for Cartersville, where he will spend some time. Miss Margaret Hull, of Westminis ter, S. C., and Miss Virginia Isbell, of Toccoa, are attractive guests of Mrs. Clayton Webb. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Rutledge had as their guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs T. A. Glower and Mr. and Mr D. A. Clower, of Caleb. Several ox our local singei-s and others attended the singings at Wal nut Grove and Hog Mountain churches Sunday afternoon. Mrs. A. T. Green, Mrs. L. E- Smith and Mrs. J. H. McGee attended the meeting of the Woman’s Missionary Society at Suwanee last week. Miss Kate Johnson, of Fairburn, and Miss Rose Lee Radford, of Mon roe, were guests of Miss Laura Belle Stubbs the last of the week. Mrs. J. H. Britt left for Monte zuma Friday where she will be the guest of her daughter, Mrs. K. K. Montfort, during the month of July. Mrs. G. C. Montgomery and daugh. ter, Kathleen, and Miss Eula Cain spent the week end with their sis ter, Mrs. B. T. Dorris, in Decatur. Col. N. L. Hutchins motored to McDonough Sunday and was accom panied home by Mrs. Hutchins and children who spent several days there with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Garner and children motored to Athens Sunday where they visited Mrs. Garner’s brother, Mr. McClain, who remains desperately ill. Mr. and Mrs. Garner have three of the McClain children with them during their father’s ill ness. Messrs. J. H. McGee and W. T. McGee returned from Chipley Mon day morning where they were called to the bedside of their parents. The condition of their father is reported better but their mother remains quite ill. Mr. G. M. Lisenbee, local Delco and radio dealer, installed a Cros ley 51 radio set in the home of Maj. W. E. Simmons Saturday. Mr. Ronald Pentecost, of Tugalo, spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Pentecost. Friends will regret to learn that the condition of Mrs. J. E. Camp bell is reported as no better. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. McGill and Miss Kathleen Nelms, of Hartwell, are guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Green. Miss Dorothy Ezzard leaves Tues day. for Savannah, going by way of Hamlet, N. C., and will spend sev eral days. Miss Byrd Moon, who has been the attractive guest of her cousin, Mrs. L. E. Smith, will return to her home in Shiloh Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Griffin and children, Mr 3. Mary D. Spence, Mr. and Mrs. Will Pentecost and little Miss Annell Pentecost motored to Athens Sunday afternoon. Messrs. C. O. Stubbs, A. T. Green L. E. Smith and W. H. Powell, as representatives of the Men’s Evan gelistic Club, attended the meeting at Roberts Academy Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Kelley are at home to their friends at the resi dence of Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Keown after a brief honeymoon spent at Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. Mrs. Georgia Crouch, and daugh ter, Miss Bernice, of Atlanta, were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Williams. Mrs. Crouch and daughter are motoring through to New York. Rev. Dick Broyles, of Loganville, Rev. Pierce Harris, of Buford, and Rev. Marvin Franklin, of Lawrence ville, leave Tuesday for Chattanoo ga where they attend the meeting of the Methodist general conference. DOUBLE WEDDING. A double wedding of much interest to Lawrenceville and the many friends of the contracting parties took place Thursday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Keown, when Miss Maude Keown became the bride of Mr. Otis Kelley, and Miss Daisy Keown was claimed in matrimony by Mr. Walter Allford, of Gloster. The impressive double ceremony was performed by Rev. L. E. Smith, of the First Baptist church, pastor of the brides. It was a very quiet affair, only the immediate families being present. Both couples left for a bridal tour to New York and other eastern points. On their return Mr. and Mrs. Kelley will reside in Lawrence vilie, while Mr. and Mrs. Alford will live at Gloster. FOR MRS. BATES. Mrs. W. H. Powell and Mrs. Bobby Davis were joint hostesses Thursday morning when they entertained at Rook for Mrs. Howard Bates, of Florida, Mrs. 'Charles Burney, of Texas, and Mrs. W. A. Schroeder, of New York. Garden flowers were used in pro fusion on the porch where the game was played and presented a most in viting appearance. At the conclusion of the game a most delicious lun cheon was served the guests. Those invited to meet the honor guests were Mrs. H. C. Smith, Mrs. J. C. Houston, Mrs. J. W. Nicholson, Mrs. A. C. Webb, Mrs. L. R. Mar tin, Mrs. C. R. Ware, Mrs. C. E. Monfort, Mrs. Nix Methvin, Miss Gippie Craig and Miss Virginia Thompson. FOR MRS. BURNEY. A lovely party of Thursday after noon was the bridge tea given by M rs. Weyman Gower in compliment to her sister, Mrs. Charles Burney, of Texas, and Mrs. W. A. Schroeder, of New York. The rooms where the guests were received were beuatifully decorated with sweet peas and gladioli. The prize, a beautifully hand made handkerchief, was won by Miss Louise Brand, and the honorees were each presented with dainty handkerchiefs. Bob Reed and Ernest Ev erett went to Liberty Sunday. Several from here attended the entertainment given by Miss Estelle Ernest Saturday night. Dr. Hames and Mr. Frasehiseur, of Atlanta, Messrs. W. A. Griswell, C. F. Griswell and Ace McMillian went on a fishing trip Saturday. Miss Henry had as her guest Sun day Miss Nellie Higgins. LaGrand Landers, of Florida, was in our burg Monday. Mr. J. Ben Davis, who is working for the American Product Co., was in our section Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. George Arnold, of Gloster, spent Saturday and Sunday with relatives here. Grayson, Ga., June 26, 'J24.— Misses Kathryn and Myrtis McGee, of Roberta, spent the week end with Mrs. J. E. Johnson. Mr. R. L. Herring is attending summer school at the University of Georgia. Mrs. Claude Smith, of Atlanta, visited her mother here a few days ago. Mrs. O. K. McAllister has returned to her home 1 in Eatonton after spending a pleasant week with her mother. Miss Florence Camp, of Atlanta, spent Sunday with her mother. Miss Hazel Cooper has returned home after a pleasant visit to her aunts near Lawrenceville. Mr. W. C. Britt and Mr. L. F. Herring motored to Athens Tuesday. Mr. W. C. Britt remained over to at tend the summer school there.. Rev. Ethridge is convalesc ing very slowly after a month’s ill- Mr. Grady Gower has returned from Ducktown, Tenn,, and is at tending summer school at Athens. Miss Mary Frances Jacobs enter tained a few of her friends at a birthday dinner Sunday. Those pres ent were: Mary Oliver, Inez Cooper, Hazel Jacobs, Ida L. Eaves and Jos ephine Herring. Misses Ellen Fowler and Bobbie Burns visited Grayson a little while Monday afternoon. Misses Rose Delle Langley and Messrs. Tom Carroll, Alvin Robin son and Grover Bennett motored to Snapping Shoals Sunday to visit friends of Miss Langley. Miss Edna Boss spent Sunday with Mrs. Berta Yancey. Mrs. Ruby Hallman and children, of Atlanta, visited her mother for a fc-w days last week. Madeline and Marjorie Oliver en tertained at a delightful little party last week, little Jean Herring being the honoree. Miss Annie Rose Nix is visiting relatives ni Atlanta. Mr. L. F. Herring will teach school at 10th district A. & M., Granite Hill, this summer, near Sparta. BIRTHDAY DINNER AND RE UNION AT MR. J. A. BOGGS’ A birthday dinner and reunion of unusual intrest was that which oc curred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Boggs on Sunday, June 22, 1924. It was planned as a surprise for Mr. Boggs by his only children, Mr. W. B. Boggs and Mrs. Ivie Lowry. Mrs. Lowry baked a large birthday cake, placing on it eighty-one candles, representing the eighty-one years of Mr. Eoggs’ age. Mr. Boggs is one of the oldest con federate veterans in the county. He enlisted in the army at the beginning pf the war between the states, and fought to the end without even being wounded. Mr. and Mrs. Boggs live by them selves on the farm neax their only son. There were present on this happy occasion, ninety-four of their children, grandchildren, great - grandchildren and other relatives and friends, to en ,!oy the bountiful feast prepared for the cccasion, and all join in wishing for Mr. Boggs many more useful and ht ppv years. Lawrenceville, R. 1, June 23. The chicken supper which was at this place last Saturday night was enjoyed by a large crowd. The sup per was for the benefit, of the church and there was a nice sum of money raised. Mrs. Mattie Coggins has returned home after a very pleasant visit to her daughter, Mrs. H. P. Edmonds, of Lawrenceville. Mr. and Mrs. Autrey Dean spent Sunday with Mi - , and Mrs. Dexter Dean, of Pleasant Hill. Mrs. Sammie Powell spent Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Will Cox. Mr. and Mrs. Haskin Davis spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bird Whitehead. There was a surprise birthday din ner at Mr. Ben Boggs Sunday for his father, Mr. J. A. Boggs. It was Mr. Bogg’s eighty-first birthday. There was eighty-five present and it was enjoyed by all. Miss Annette Autry, of Noreross, was the week end guest of Miss Ada Robinson. Mr. Roy Jones and sister, Lonah, attended the party at Duluth Mon day night given by Mr. George Ben nett. Punch and cake were served by the hostess assisted by Miss Lois McGee. Mr. John Cox, of Atlanta, visited his father, Mr. Will Cox Saturday. We are glad to say that tbe sick of our community are improving. Mr. Carter Powell, of Shake Rag, spent Sunday with his uncle, Mr. Sam Powell. Mr. Jack Denmark and Miss Mar jorie New, of Duluth, and Miss New’s attractive visitor from Atlan ta, visited Miss Lonah and Mr. Roy Jones Thursday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. John Langley passed through this section one day last week. Miss Eula Whitehead and Miss Eleanor Atkinson visited Mrs. Josie Whitehead Sunday afternoon. Mr. Alton Robinson, of Atlanta, spent several days last week with home folk. Misses Evelyn Pittard and Lor raine McGee, of Duluth, called on Miss Lonah Jones Tuesday evening.
