The friendship of gtetri men is like the shadow of a bush, soou gone. Love, a cough, ami smoke will not reunin secret. He knows ei ongh who knows how to live ami keep Lis own counsel. He cannot be a friend to any one who is his own enemy. Saving well eau->os a la igh : do iog well products si enee. A miserly faiher makes a prodi gal son. It is not the greatest beauties that inspire the most profound passion. Etery one knows best where the shoe pinches him. That often happens in a day which does not happen in a hun dred years. It is the old cow's notion that s ie never was a calf. He sleeps securely who lias noiLing to lose. After tne act wishing is in vain. He that would tat the kernel must crack ihe nut. Turn your tougue seven times before speaking. Ii will not do to keep holidays before they come. Never sell the bear’s skin until you have killed the bear. Nothing is impossible to a will ing mind. By telling out woes we often as suage them There is to pride like that of a beggar grown rich. There is no worse wa er than j that which sleeps. There never was a banipiet so sumptuous but some one dined ill at it. There is no such thing a- 1 tin in significant eaeiny The sheep that bleats loses a j mouthful. The fa’se friend *is like the shadow of a suu dial. Nothing is done while some thing remains undone. -Voi irery one that dacces is glad. A landmark is vsry well placid between two brothers. It is loving too much to die of love. Ravens do not peck out ravens’ eyes. To do, one must be doing. On the Bth of February last, we made mention of a peculiar case in Crawford county, near the Warrior district. Mr Alfred Long a farmer in tnat sec l ion, was a roused at midnigh by pain . He found that during his sleep he had chewed his tongue horribly. Next morning it had swollen to such an extent that he could not apeak. After the swilling went down a cancer was discovered on the tongue. This grew <o sueh an extent that the poor man coni t on ly eat with difficulty. On Thurs day, Mr. Long died. Wb are ii forced that he was reduced al most to a skeleton. He was bur', ried on Friday afternoon, Rev. gam Burnett conducting the fun eral ceremony at Dixon's church Macou Telegraph, Peekskille, N. AYER’S Hair Vigor restores, with the gloss ami freshness of youth, faded or gray hair to a natural, rich l»ro«rn color, or deep black, as may be desired. Hy its use light or red hair may K> darkened, tain hair thickened, aud bakine** often, though not always, cured. It checks falling of the hair, and stimu lates a weak and sickly growth t vigor. It prevents and cures scurf and dA mi ruff, and heals nearly every disease peculiar to the scalp. As a Ladles' llair Pressing, the Vigor is unequalled; it contains neither oil nor dye, renders the hair soft, glossy, and silken in appearance, and imparts a delicate, agreeable, aud lasting perfume. Mu. C. P. Blue her writes from Kirby, 0.. J i v 3, I** 2 : “ Last tali my hair commenced failing out, ami in a short time I liecatne nearly bald. 1 used parr of a !>ott!e of Avkr’s Hair Vigor, which slopped the fall ing of the hair, and started a now growth. 1 have now a full head of hair growing vigor ously. and am convinced that but for the use of your preparation 1 should have been entirely bald.” .T. W. Bowen, proprietor of the McArthur {Ohio) Enquirer, says : “ AYf.r’s Hair Vigor is a most excellent preparation for the hair. I speak of it from my own experience. Jis use promotes the growth of new hair, and makes it glossy ana soft. The Vigor is also a sure cure for dandruff. Not within my knowledge has the preparation ever failed to give entire satisfaction." Mr. Avoirs Fairbairn, leader of the celebrated "Fairbairn Family" of Scottish Vocalists, writes from Boston, Mass.. Feb. 6, 1880: " Ever since my hair began to give sil very evidence of the change which fleeting time procuretli, I have used Ayer’s Hair Vigor, and so have been able to maintain an appearance of youthfulness — a matter of considerable consequence to ministers, ora tors. actors, and in fact every one who lives in the eyes of the public." Mrs. O. A. Prescott, writing from 18 Elm St., Charlestown, Mats., April 14, 1882, says : " Two years ago about two-tldrds of my hair came off. It thinned very rapidly, and 1 was fast gi owing bald. On using Ayer’s Hair V IGOR the railing stopped and a new growth commenced, and in about a month my head was completely covered with short Lair. It has continued to grow, and is now as good a* before it fell. I regularly used but one bottle of the Vigor, but now use it occasionally as u dressing.” We have hundreds of similar testimonials to the efficacy of Ayer’s Hair Vigor. It needs but atrial to convince the most skepti cal of its value. PREPARED BY Dr. J.C. Ayer & Co., Lowell, Mass. Sold by all Druggists.
