Jordan’s second son, a young man abont eighteen years old left home afier dionei to work in the Held, on what is known as the llakestraw place, a short distanc® from his fathers residence. As he failed to return home at the usual time some uneasiness was felt and other members of the family went in search of him Af ter searching the field they repaii -6d to the spring and found him lying near it dead. He was lying on liis back with bis bands across his breast. The discovery startled them and arrangements was at once made for removing him Lome. The distress of his family " with whom be was a favorite and a most exemplary young man in ever respect can be well imagined. A Coroners inquest was held over his remains and after full investigation it was decided that his death was not the result of foul play but that it was the resrolt of conges! ion produced by drinking a large draught of water while he wts hot. Tfie weather wa- very hot and sultry and it is supposed that he had worked hard and while hot visited the spring for water and that the congestion waß so severe he could not gat away. Some of the neighbors who were working in an adjoining farm beard him hollowing and supposed that he was attempting to frighten crows from (lie field as such noise was not unusual. The suffering must have been intense as be struggled alone with t,be grim monster, with no sympa thisi ng friends to comfort or miti gate /he liorors of tl e last conflict. His remains were buried at the cemetery iu Liwreneeville on Wednesday. — i<M » BUFORD. Rain has been plentiful; and vegetables are growing finely.
