C. H. Brand THE CUBS GET RESTLESS. Sheriff Cosby’s pels, Haney and Osborn got tired of the listless life they were leading in jail and con cluded to fry the ; r legs a little last Friday. Tuey were confined in the south room of the jail up stairs,* which is not tegardeti as very sate but is the most pleasant room in the old building. Upon their promise that they would iot at* tempt to escape the Sheriff allowed them to occupy that roon. On Friday they b gait work prizing out the stmes of which the pardon wall is built and soon had a hole big euough to throw a dog through. /’bey*ther entered the hall and attempted to remove she grafß at the rear of the jail but faildul and when the sheriff' went to feed th.m Saturday morning, they were lying quietly in bed. When asked about trying to escape, they sta ed tha/ they di;t not expect togei out but were only pulling the rocks about for exercise. The Sheriff has con eluded to let them exercise in the du'igeon iu the future. The Gwinnett Sunday School Association, met in animat i ou ventiao, on Saturday the 18th inst. in the Methodist church at this place, and was called to order at 10 o i locL;\ tu. by S. J. Winn> president. The chaplain, Rev. W.M. Winn, being absent, the religious exercises were condor/ ed by Rev. Pau’T Connally, as sisted by Mr. S. H. Simpson, at the organ I lie call of the roll, showed six-, ty delegates present, representing forty -06 e school, an increase of twenty-two over las*, year. The statistical reports showed a lota' membership of 3,078, a gain of 1,426 over last year, and 280 con versions during the year, a gain of 192, There were 17 of the 4J schools tha* do not close up du> ring the win/er mot tbs, showing a large iuctease of evergreen schools over lasi yeai. Haygood. of Buford Bap tist Sunday School, delivered an ddress. on the duty of parents to war i the Sunday School cause. The address wus full of good thoughts aml soum* advice, and was well delivered and elicited the olofe at'eo'ion of the convention. He wus followed by Rev. P. F. Gounally, of Noi-cross, ou Sunday School literature, in which he elo- Ljueutly argued the use of the les son ' sips in ail the sclioolh, hold' mg that those schools who do not use them could not bjfe to keep pace with them who do. 71)6 following resolution offer ed by Prof. J. T.
