There lives a few nvles from this place one of tbo strangest, and most pitiful looking objects, per haps iu the bout)dry of this state- But for the respectability of the family, and ihei’- utter dislike to appear in print, in this particular, we would give the name of the poor unfortunate, of wnom we write, but regp-ding thi- oblige ‘■ion we desist, Suffice it to say, however, the story is true, and caD be substautialed at a moments no tice. The child snake is now nine years old, and with every indica tion of a long life before it yet. It rarely ever sleeps, and has uev er eut a mouthful of itß owu ac. cord in its Re; every bite has to be prepared and fed to ii with tbe utmost tenderness Its long, wiry, snake ' ke form ; dull, inactive eyes, narrow mou'b, and snake head, together with the veritable snake fangs, is sickening to leok npon. It cannot wilk or crawl, but lies flat upon ibe floor and rolls, ami has always some member ol *ts body in mot'on. A Herald man culled upon the f.iiher of the ch ;l d the other day, and earned the sp 1 particulars ol this wonderful combination of hu man and snake. We would like to give to the public a true dis eription of this m raculons freak of nature, but tbe delicacy or the subject forbids. It is worth your time to go to see it. A MONEY ORDER OFFICE In an interview with Post Mas ter Wilson, of Atlanta, recently, he -'nformed us that it was only necessary, to secure a money or der office here, for our business men to unite in n petition to tlte Superintendent of the Money Or der department, setting forth the necessity for such an office. It it hard,y necessary to urge the importance of this matter, as it would uotonly be a great con venience, but a saving to those who want to send small sums ot money to my'part of the country. It would lrrgely increase the busi ness of our Postoffice, ati'i save t,he trouble of having to go to Atlanta to buy a check or money order. vVe can generally get a check on Atlanta, from our mer chants, but this does not when the money is t • be sent to New York or Texas, or other local ity where an Atlanta check cannot be made available as cash. Jefferson, Cuinmi xg. Ellijay and other towns, with nothing like the business relations of Lawrence ville, have this convenience, and it is only necessary that our peo pie should take interest enough to petition for the establishment of the office to secure it. ATLANTA PRESBYTERY The annual Faff session of the Atlanta Presoyieiy, will convene in Lawrencetilie, Friday before the Second Sunday in October, and will remain I’itil Tuesday following. For twenty years I have been afflicted wiih a dreadful blood poison, and during all those years I haxe bad tbe best medical advice in the country, the physicians pre set ibing tbe only remedies known, such as Mercury and lodide of Potassium all to no purpose. 1 was six months in Bellevue Hospit al, and became so bad diat 1 des paired of getting well. A’ss, however, after taking more mercui j and potassium from them, I became so much worse that I gave up io d : e. There were boles in my legs that you could put a ben’s egg in, clear down to the boue. A number of peices of bone came out at my ankle, and now 1 carry the scars on my face and body of the fright ful character of tHs disease. I then came back to Providence, and by chance got bold of a paper with the advertisement of Swift’s Speci sic mitof a wonderful cuie. As a last Lope I thought I would try it. Thunks be to God, 1 can say to-day that I am perfectly cured, having taken medicine about three months. Up to the present date no symptoms of the d’sease have returned, and i feel as well as be fore I was poisoned. I have noth ing but two scars to show that 1 was ever afflicted. I consider S. S.
