It 1s the delizht ot the people thatj l Superior Court | ; : ‘ Proceedings. Superior Court convened here Tuesday the 6th inst with Jndge T. A. Paiker on the bench. - His charge to the jury was an able one. He instructed them as to their duty and dwe2lt on the im , portance of the laws being enforcea, There were many people present from the different sections of the county. ) The most important cases in court were the cases King & Clark vs Menia: Chemical Co. and the Pet ty-Dixon case: ‘The King & Clark case lasted for more than a day and every one seemed interested. He/| has paid out 1058 .30 leaving a bal-; ance, according to the books, of 46060.54 to the credit of the county, County Court,—We find the treas urer'r retords of the county court SI.OO A YEAR. [are well kept, but it occurs to the members of this committee, accord ing to information furnished us, that certain funds belonging to the cred it of the county court, were paid out 18 expense which ought to have been paid out of the regulur county furds. As the books now stand, it shows a dcficit in the treasury of the county court, Sale Record.—This book we find correctly kept, and everything filled out in regular fo'm. There have been very few sales since the last ex amination of this record, conse quently but few entries have been. made, Ordinary’s Books.—=~We have ex lammed the books ot the present or dinary as well as those of his prede cessor and find them all in true and _SN T “.rm;';" iy R m kept; ail proceedings ot their meet ings properly recorded in their min ute book., We noticed that all or ders were properly paid out, County School Commussioners Books.—The- books belonging to this office were carefully examined. For neatness and accuracy, the keep cer of these books deserves commen dation. We have gone over all funds received from the State Treas urer as well as those from the con vict fund, and find that they were all properly applied, and that the stmple system of bookkeeping em ployed by the present commissioner shows all expenditures at a glance. Jail Records,—The jail records, beginning with Jan. 9th 1908 and extending up to April 2nd 1909 shows that $760, 50 was paid out for board of prisoners and key fees dur ing this period. We recommend. that all entries be made in full - and. that a full ('.f,é,scri‘ption of .each pris oner be entered in:regular form. "Aside from these omissions we find' the book wcll;lk(;pt. £ . That we have learned that our roads are in bad condition and rec ommend that our county commis 'sioners use their inflnence to im= ‘prove the roads of the county.
