] A Sad Death
Mrs Kate B. Raybon dies after
] shore itlness,
The Death Angel visited our town
last Friday night Oct. Ist 1909 at
11:45 o’clock and took from our
midst, Mrs. Kate B. Raybon, one
of ovur best christian ladies, and
took her gently to that bright Home
above,
Mrs. Raybon had only been gick
afsw days and her death was cansed
by paralysis of the heart, which was
caused by a shock. Her little two
year old girl became sick and had
convulsions and was not expected to
live, and from this the mother be
come ill and finally sacrificed her
life for the sake of her dear child,
| The little girl is now improving.
Mrs Raybon was born Mar, 18,1877
and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs,
J. A. Wainwright, of Folkston. On
Jan, 23rd, 1897 ¢he was married to
Mr Chatrles M. Raybon, of Lulaton,
Ca., but they have live?' here
since their marriage. She leayes
a husband, tvo litt’e sons and one
little daughter, beside her parents
and two sisters. When only nine
teen years of age she gave her hearnt
to God and joined the Methodist
Episcopal Church South here, where
she vemained a consistent chrmxiz@
until ler death, Her religion was
the one thing that permeated and
fashioned her whole hfe. 7 Her faith
in God and his Word was simple
and her joy in God’s worship and
service was beautiful, and was the
sunshine under which her character
unfelded and grew She “walked
tumbiy with her God.” Her home
was always opened to God's servauts
who not only brought their blessings
but received a benediction 1n the
corcdhal nospitality and genial love
that characterized her home. Hea
ven will be no strange place to her,
She caltivated and cherished its
spirit here and dispensed its sun- |
shine in other lives. She was a lov-1
ing and devoted wife, a kind and
affectional wother, a good neighbor
and a trne friend. She filled her
sphere in life, and bas gone to reap
the reward of the faithful. Since
she became a christian it was the
greatest desive of her heart that
others would come to the Lord.
She always found it pleasant to walk
iw the way of everlasting life, and
no time was she backward in work
ing for her Master, She in wlking
before her death about the condition
of unsaved men as she was at pray
ermeeting one evening just ten days
before her death said <[ am pray
ing for the peopie of this vicinity
and long to see a'revival in our
town, Iwantto see arevival, and,
am willing to give my life, if it takes
that to cause the people of Folkston
'to be save.” She did not live to see
%her prayers answered, but was called
Howe in just a few days. .
. The funeral took place Satarday
afternoon at 4 o'clock, the service
being conducted by her pastor, lev.
L. R, Kelly, who spoke so beauti
fully of the life which she lived.
Muny sorrowing and sywpathizing
friends were present at the residence ‘
and a large auaience assembled AL
the cemetery to witness the funeral |
setvices, all which indicated thci']
warm affecton for the departed one,
as well as the most profmmdv respect
and sorrow for the atflicted fumily.
May the sympathetic Saviour be
in the home of the breaved family to
console and comfort 1s our prayer.
