Mr. W, B, Smith closed the deal
last werk by wnich he became
the owner of the Dixie Restau
rant, having purchased the entire
ntereat from Mr and gMrs. James
Purdom. Mr. Smitn will operafe
the restaurant or the same high
standard maintained under the
management of Mrs. Purdom;
We predict success under the new
mapagement.
Picnic at Gruy Gables
. Through negligence we failed
4o give an account of the lovely
picnic given by Mrs. W. E. Banks
to-her Sunday School class and
- yonng people of the city.
- -Thepicnic party left here about
six n’clock in cars and arrived at
Gray Gables in due time, where,
- they were cordally welcomed by
- Mr. and Mss. Boughner, who vir
* tually “ turned tbe place over to
‘the picnic party. Thev swam,
they played, thev were entertained
by the radio, and they ate.
The lunches, prepared so dain
tily by the young ladies, were
spread and supplemented by cold
drinks furnished an appetising
and delicious repast.

Miss Gertrude Wildes returied
last week from Jacksonville where
she went to care for her brother’s
children. She, enjoyed pleasant
trips to Green Cove Springs

home Sunday night bringing their
littie daughters, Kathrine and
Willette, who had spent the past

ents near Waycross, They all
epent Sunday with Dr. Thomp
son’s parents at Nicholls, Ga.

Street Property
Another important deal was:

Pickren purchase from his father
the lot on Main Street on which
his store now stands. We under

garage, The work on the new
garage, wnich is to be a stucco
bufiding, will begin as soon as
My, Pickren sells out the stock
of goods he has in the store. Mr,
and Mrs. Pickren plan to rest
while raising White Leghorns.
The Negro School Building
The new school building being
erected for the negroes, is show
ing up uicely. The building is
being erected according to the
state plans of modern schonl
buildings and is te be atwo teach
er school when a sufficient num
