Wise Plan for :
Consolidation.
The consolidation of schools in

the teachers, haveno authority and
0o vote in the matter. But the
Board has not been arbitrary in
this matter of consolidation, 'lt
ilas sougnt to ascertain the wishes
'f a majority of the people in the
terrtory affected after the matter
vas beeu bought before the Board
by petition. Where the people
oave shown dissatisfa :tion before
the consolidation was effected due
consideration has beed given to
the wishes of the majority. There
aever has been intention or desir:
to force censolidation on communi.
ties where the most of the peopls
were opposed so it. Trained
teachers can be secured mor:
easily, it has been found, for ccn
solidated schools than for three
two, or one-teacher schools. Lar
ger tax areas make 11e erection of
guod buildings and the prope;
equipment of them possible, So
where the people feel inclined to
call for the expenditure of the ad-
Aitional funbs neeessary for the
ransportation of children to cen
ral schocls where they may have
the advantage of better tramned
teschers, moaern buildiugs, and
the necessary equipment for con.
ducting a school the Board has so
fur been able ty comply with the
requests made. It is a matter left
for the people themselves to de
cide,because the schools are theirs.
