Sunday showed the (emper ature dropping, and Monday i freezing. The week has been hovering around the twenties in morning hours, but warmed glivhtly during the day. Automobiles froze up while runniny, and the Garage's had tneir hands full mending bursting radiators It was too much for the electric heaters, and as a result holiday was declared for Tuesday and for the rest of the week. It was our longest cold spell in years. ! Earnest Petty Dead The remains of Mr Earnest Petty, who died st Miliedgeville, after a 22 year siay in the Sao itarium, was brought to Folkston last Friday and buried in the Folkston Cemetary. Three Fire Alarms: Monday night, Folkston was threatened with two fires, but fortunately they were discovered in fime.t‘}‘pre_vent serious confra ations. The Boyd home caught The Frank Mill's hohe came in for a double start to burn. Dur ing the early evening of Monday, the-roof caught from sparks, but was put out quickly. Tuesday avening it again caught from em bers from a big fire, the cold spell ciusing it necessary to warm up the nouse. However a bucket or two of water quenched the blaze. Rayner Back Boosting Oscar Rayner is back from Nortn Caro'ina where he wentto spend the Holidays with home folks. Aand Oscar came back a Yoosting Folkston, as he has never soosted it before. Says that there seemed to be a general complaint vherever he went as to hard imes. It is reported that while drinking he sat down on the railroad tract and went to sleep, A freight passing struck him killing him instantly e .
