With the Sunday service the
Baptist begun their revival service
with two notable sermons by the
pastor, Rev. Poinde:ter, and al
morning service four accessivn to

the Lord.
Monday morning a sunrise
prayer meeting opened the week
services and with good aftendarce.
The evening seryice at 8:30
sowed a decided interest as lhe‘
hruse was full to cverflowing.
Tuesday Rev. W. B. Feagin, of
Jesup, came to take the part as
revivalist during the period of the
meting. He will be with the
pasror on through the coming
week.
Rcvivalist Mr. Feagin, stands
pre->minent as preaching the
word of God, so as to impress his
hearers with interest in spiritual
affairc. The large congregation
are attesting the good being
accomnlishea, and increasing feel
ing of cpirituality is being brought
about in these meetings.
Morning and evening services

ing week, with the closing to be

J. W, Vickery Stricken
Operation Saves His Life.
} The sudden and serlous attack
suffered by Mr. J. W. Vickery,
Monday forenoon, was quite alarm
ing to thie family and his host of
friends. He was seized with sud
den pains in his side and stomach
while at Mattox, his Highway place
of business, and Mrs. Vickery
rushed him to bis Folkston resi
dence where, Dr. Fleming render
ed first aid. His condition was so
critical that it was absolutely nec
essary for an. operation, so he
&was hurrizd to the Wapeross Hos
pital. accompanied by Mrs. Vick
eryf his son-in-law, Mr, Edgsr
Allen, and Dr. Fleming.
He underwent an operation for
appendicitus, which was made
more serious by an aggrauation of
an old hurt of years ago. The op
peration gave relief and reports
}from the Hospital have relieved
the fecling of serious consequence
and his friends are encouraged to
hope for his speedy recavery,

Waycross Dubs Folkston 1
with its First Dejeat
Folkstcn suffered her first” de
feat last Friday at the bends of
the Waycioss club, this being a
play off of the Tuesaay’s rained
out game The scorce was 4to 0.
Folkston’s regular line up was
slightly changed. Mills went to
3rd, und Banks took 2nd, Phiilips
was supplanted in center by Car
roll Wright, and Clyde Gowen las
ted two inning in right, Robinson
relieving him. E. Allen was miss
ing from the line-up., Cox wus on
the firing line, but his offerings
was laken to too kindly by Way
crosy, so Willis Askew. did rescue
work, The best catcher in the
league, our Dean Gowen was just
a little off that day, so uiding by
some team play our boys suffercd
their first defeat,
The work of Slim Dixon, on the
mound for Wayeross, was first
class, and he deserved the victory
Several fine fielding plays were
made, notable by tucir third base~
man, and the ,centerhelded did a
highway robbery act too.
The Patterson team was with us
in its entirety Eriday, pulling for
Waycross, which we will try to
remember next Tuesday when we
meet them for the crucicsl games
of the series.

Folkston Fields Faultlessly
Defeating Homerville.
Tuesday the team journeyed to
Homersville to conquer an other
team, and right well did the boys
back up the hurling of Newt As
kew. who set down the opposition
with two runs, off of 9 hits, while
our boys crossed the platter six
times and made 6 hits, There
were quite a few fans on hand
from Folkston and dispite lhreat-i
ening weather enjoyed the gam. .
The cgomersville noys are a fine
bunch of boys and plaved a good
game of ball. There are to be our
guest Thursday.

Recove ing from Hurt.
Little Fay 7Taylor, who was
knocked down by a auwomobile,
on the Highway at Kingsland last
week has been taking freatment
frcm Dr. Bliss, on adjustment of
the hurt made, so as to relieve
her of pain. She started across
the highway, when a passing car
struck her, the driver evading her
partly, so hit her with the fender
lessening her injury.
