The teachers of the county
were here Tuesday and Wednes
day for the annual pre-teaching
conference. This is held for the
purpose of explaning and discuss
ing the General Plans for the vear’s
work, as well as for permitting
the teachers to get better acquain
ted. There were aiwsc a number

The plans for this year's work
have in part been worked out
through assigned research problem
.by teachers of the system. The
main features of the plan include:
A program of directive teaching
whereby will e provided labora
tory study situations calling for
review, summary, assignment, and
supervised study in which pro
vision for the individaal difiernce
of pupils will be ymade.
Projects extending through the
year and having to do with home
beautification. gardening, and lo
cal history. These are to culzinate
in a Flower Show, a Product Show.
and a Histoy Pageaut in each
school. Supplementing this ef
fort to get fruit trecsplan'ed and
school grounds made more beau
tiful will be undertaken.
Daily lessons plans ar: to be
required of all teecners this year,
individual and group graphs will
be kept by both pupils and teach
ers.
Full explanation of the Graphic
Report cards will be made for
benefit of parents and pubils in
the manthly school bulletin.
Meetings of teachers an:to be
held twice a month on Saturdays
for making and grading test pa
pers, studing problems in conoec
tion with the method of directive
teaching that may arise, and for
the doing of such other work as
‘may be necessary. This is done
(in order that all other spare time
may be devoted to the study of
lessons. the making of pians for
teeching, and the correcting of
!lessuns papers.

Get Homes for the Term.‘
*Falkston took on new life this
week, when a bevy of some thirt
teachers invaded the town.
Everyone of them that had been
assigned but three responded to
the first roll call and cne vacancy,
that in the Racepond school was
announced.
Local teachers who formally
taught were welcomed back home
while new one were given a warm
creeting and found an abiding
place.

the finishing touches to fields that

Jim Wright Transferred
Mr. James Wright, Mrs. Wright
and children came up Monday and
spent betwezn trains here with his
mother, Mrs, Annie Wright.
Mrs. Wright and the children
left for a .visit to her molber in
Dotnan before joming Jim in his
new home.
Jim was on his way to Memphis
where has been transferred to wi

ty Commissioner’s places develop
ed this week, when Mr. A.D.Johns
entered as a contestant agaiost
Mr. Mel Prescott, of distriect No.
2, (Winokur), Mr. Johns was
reared in that end of county, and
is well-known to our citizens, is ac
puainted with the needs and con
ditions of his district and if chosen
will make a good commissioner.
His announcement appears in this
issue and he is active in letting the
voters know he is the race.
