R The nidest weather, everybody sobeg and. mercnants busy on Sat urday and Monday, what else could we wish, GET THE IDEA PLEASE. The Bradford County Telegraph says: "Automobilists from Florida are held up at the state line for tick inspection. We might institute an inspection for cooties on all Georgians coming into the state.” The most foolish thing we know of, is the ahitude of our sister state below us, and their many adherants of a pclicy, that tends te disturb the tranquility of the two states. ’ Georgia bas a tick law. Ticks cause untold losses annually and we have gone to a great expense in getting rid ot them, even to the extent of purting up a line fence ’belween the two states. Yet our brethen of the land of flowers, du not seem to realize that every !dollur we spend in ridding our selves of these pests and building ¢ od highways are the means of nelping that great state onward i 118 mareh of progress, Iy have a pest law tha peraes to protect them in the intlix of vegewmbles and fruits, that *hey then expect to transport their produets into er through our state without any pretext of pro tecting cur interest is just a sample of the lack of good sound common sense, and hreeds not the kind of spirit we would, have bnd but a pirit of resentment 0. the purt of people that seems ruther sellish to us. Consider the effect and saving of good feelings if Florida bad oegun its 2swpaign of tick era: diction on the Georgia line and ‘woi ked down the coast to help its northern line neighbor in the good work. The last meetingr of the old council at Homeland showed that that town is one of the few tha' has ¢ beautiful tawn hallin it, a cemetery of several acres, and a fifty acre public park and money in the bank. The stutement pre sented to the Council at their meeling last Wednesday night showed that there was SSOO in the treasurer and the town out of dent ‘Thu is a festher in the cap of the old council, and it was the right act to renominate the okl :ouncil. ‘We might add that their record is one of the best—always there ‘with thé'mingtes up 1o now, and that in re=nominating Mr. T. H. Willie they did more than a wise thing. . The Homelan 1 ecity fathers at their last session of the old year contribu‘ed the sum of $25 toward the advertising campzign of Fed eral Route One, which is waced vigourously for more travel. That is the spirit that wias the day n having the trayeling public come our way, There are several good business houses on the highway st Homelard, and it is nothing but right that this public spirited town should sid in a movement to get more business. | The best way to boos! travel on the highway is to beau ify 1t with evergreens and flowers.
