Hursey and Advisory Board’s Plans
Includes Feeding Home Grown Feeds.
Qur = Agricultural Advisory
Board decided that we should
push.the growing of more feed
stuffs for our county. While there
are a very few of our farmers
growing all they are consuming at
home and selling a little, all the
farmers are nct supplying home
with a plenty cf home grown pro
ducts
This year less put i plenty of corn
rice and other such grains as we
know will make good on our farms
Yellow cora is one of the msin
feeds for hens and if we ean raisc
that product in sufficient quantity, |
or white corn, for the hens we
will have much more profit on our
poultry. Dr, Fain from the Uni
versity, says that rice will aid us
materisliy with our poultry. Why
not put in plenty of rice so as to
pake more on the hens Every
farmer should grow at least one
acre of rice for hens, mules and
the family. o
© Lets plan more hog feeds this
year, ,We are epecting hogs to
bring some good money this year
and if we will get busy now and
grow the feed we can expect lo
get our part. sets grow more
corn, peanuls, chiufas, beans, dashi

hogs. We can make more mone

poultry. If you will go after il
pow, you will be in the swim lalci
All of the above crops do well in
this countv nnd it is up to hustler
to show what he can make on
hogs next year. Do not forget
that your hogs must be treatxd
agaiust cholera if you wish to save
them. Too late after they ge!
sick.
Forestry, being one of our ten
year projects, needs immediate
attention. You can burn fire}
breaks when the weather is favor
able. Just plow two furrows‘
about sixty feet apart and thun'
two men cun burn that stiip so as‘!
to protect the remainder ol your |
land, You can - check so as m!
leave about 100 ucres in each pro
tected block. This sirip should't

little trees grow! [ believe that
fire breaks plowed and seeded
to carpet grass will giye both
pasture and forest protection. It
is trae, in years to come the straw
might bave to be raked from the
plowed fire breaks, as it will get
deeper and deeper in straw every
year. If you have any idea the

will certainly do something to pro.
