JOSEPH M. BROWN
SWEEPS THE STATE
Hoke Smith Defeated By at Least 25,880 Majority.
Georgia’s Demagogue Politically Dead Forever.
As we have predicted for sev
eral weeks past, Hon. Joseph M.
Brown was nominated yesterday
by an enormous majority. Hoke
Smith went down in defeat be¬
fore the man he has abused and
criticised. From present indi¬
cations Brown has carried 80 or
90 counties and the State by a
larger majority than Smith re¬
ceived two years ago. It is im
Tpossible to get the exact returns
before going to press, but the
most conservative estimates give
Brown 25,000 majority.
