distinguished honor of being ;
lynched in bunches of nine.

after fasting forty days must
have saved enough on her meat |

Resolutions.
The following resolutions were
adopted ,j Foreign by the Missionary Woman’s Societies, Home j
an n •’ 1
Fort Valley Methodist
In the early morning of Friday,
June 19 1908, the spirit of Mrs J 1
Murph, left its earthly house
and went to be “forever with the
Lord.’’ For her, “to die was
gain,”but incur sense of loss
and bereavement, we marvel that
a life so strong and beni.ficent in
j everv influence should be
s t,ill e d, while yet there was the
promise of many years of service
and of fruitful labor. But in this,
as in every time of great sorrow,
we question not God’s wisdom,
but rely with implicit confidence
upon Him who never makes mis¬
takes and is too tender to be un
kind. It is in the immediate
circle of her home intimate
friends and in the church at
Marslmliville that her going will j
be most sorely felt. lo those we,
offer knowing our that heart they felt sympathy, j
sorrow
those who have no hope, but who
rather feel underneath them the
everlasting arms, and are sus¬
tained by IJis grace.
It is the loss which has fallen
upon the Woman’s Home and
Foreign Missionary Societies of
of the South Georgia Conference
which elicits this expression of
sorrow and appreciation. A little
more than a year ago, the
Woman’s Foreign Missionary
Society of the South Georgia
Conference called Mrs Murph to ’.
bake up the responsibilities of
the place of District Secretary of
the Oordele District, Until then,
her labors had been confined to
her own town and church. But
the intelligent zeal with which
she immediately assumed the
duties of District Secretary indi
u; a ted the wisdom of the choice
which our Conference officers had
made. The District closed in
March of this year, a year show¬
ing marked advance in our
Woman’s work, and gave promise
of a yet more prosperous time for
the coming year. Upon the
resignation of Mrs J A Thomas,
Conference Cor. Sec. of the Home
Mission Society of the the South
(j a . Conference Mr s Murph was
appointed to fill this place, and
| va q just begun to get the work of
this new and important position
in hand, when God’s voice said
“your work is liniGied ; come up
higher, V
It was the precious pri\ ilege of
three of the undesigned ladies to
attend the burial services of our
friend aud sister, By her own
request, these were confined to
the beautiful burial ritual of our
beloved Methodist church, with
one song which she had said she
wold like to have sung by her
opfcn grave, As the tear thrilled
voices of four of her friends sang
that sweet song 44 Saved by
Grace,” our own souls could
almost realize her triumphant
entrance through the gates into
the city of God: and our hearts
echoed the words of inspiration,
“Blessed are the dead, who die
in the Lord”.
We shall miss her in many ways
many coming days, but
truly we thank God for the gift
of her life of loving labor, and
for her triumphant and
death. ;
