DENIES FALSE REPORTS.
Mr. Editor

tliat has been floating around Fort
Valley—that I attended a
sometime ago and that I am acting;
as a committee to get members
along the cooks, maids and servants,
and to influence them against work
ing for less than a certain salary, 1
and against working: on Sunday.
wish to say that I have never attend
ed such meeting and know nothing
about it whatever. I have been a
ident of Fort Valley for more than
16 years, and have never attempted
o advise any servant against their
employer. I also wish to thank Mrs.
It. S. Braswell and Mrs. Cliff Prator
for their words of encouragement,
and their aid in checking this false
rumor which I feel is a great in
justice to me, and was only circu
lated to harm me among the white
citizens of Fort Valley.
Respt.,
Mattie Mitchell.
