HON. HOSCOE PEACOCK'S AN¬
NOUNCEMENT HAILED WITH
DELIGHT IN JOHNSON
COUNTY
EASTMAN MAN TO MAKE FOR¬
MIDABLE OPPONENT OF CON¬
GRESSMAN WASH W. LARSEN.
PEACOCK’S HOME FOLKS
BACKING HIM STRONGLY.
YOUNG BUT COMPETENT,
PLEASANT BUT NOT DECEP¬
TIVE. IS EXAMPLE WORTHY
OF TRUST AND HONOR.
Tell us not in mournful numbers
that the Twelfth Congressional Dis¬
trict, isn’t going to be a hot political
center all of this summer until the
September primary rolls round, for it
most certainly is, and one of the
most welcomed announcements gov
ering this coming battle has been
thrown from the bombastic arena at
Eastman, when the young and bril¬
liant gladiator, the Honorable Ros
eoe Peacock, delivered to the press of
the district and to that of the state
his formal card, telling the people of
his high aspiration, and very respect¬
fully seeking their kindness in the
race he has staged against the pres¬
ent incumbent Congressman W. W.
Larsen, of Dublin.
Mr. Peacock is experienced in leg¬
islative halls. Mr. Peacock is a grad¬
uate of the University of Georgia and
is a brilliant example of success,
from youth up. Young, though com¬
petent, pleasant and smiling, but not
at all deceptive, he has waged a safe
fight by right to a higher plane than
is often topped by the average young
man of the country, and in climbing
he has won the good fellowship of a
great circle of real “wheel horses” in
the political game, who are not hesi¬
tating to reply to his standard to the
last notch. He is an example well
deserving of trust and honor. He
is capable to fill the office.
He served for nearly a year with
the American army in France and
won distinction in the service, gradu¬
ating from the first officers training
school at Fort McPherson. Mr. Pea¬
cock is held in highest esteem by his
home folks at Eastman and in
county and they are backing him
strongly and almost to a man in his
home county. This speaks well for
the man, as it does of any man who
places his name before the people
for any office. That he will be a
most formidable opponent for
present congressman goes without
saying and his future career,
as bright on an early horizon, will
be watched with growing interest
throughout the state. His announce¬
ment appears elsewhere in this paper.
-—What the .Johnson county editor
thinks of Roseoe Peacock’s candi¬
dacy.—Adv.
