The January meeting of the Gov¬
ernor Treutlen Chapter D. A. R. was
held Wednesday, .January 12, at the
home of Miss Gladys Slappey on
Anbersin Ave. Although the weath
er was very inclement there was a
large and enthusiastic attendance.
Miss Gladys Slappey was elected
to attend the Continental Congress
which will be held in Washington,
[). C., the Week of April 19.
Mrs. W. B. Smith, regent, and Mrs.
r jj. Hale, delegate, will attend the
State Convention to be held in Dal
ton, Ga, April 5, 6, 7.
The Chapter will give $25.00 for
the five thousand dollar memorial
scholarship at the University of Geor¬
gia to world war heroes.
A well-rendered program of cur
rent events by the members, a pa¬
per on “America’s Widening Hori
zon tt by Mrs. Louis L. Brown, and
a piano solo by Miss A Uie Houser
were enjoyed after the business ses
sion. Miss Slappey served delight
full refreshments, after which the
meeting adjourned to meet with Mrs.
R. D. Hale in February at her home

OF UNUSUAL INTEREST
A very delightful meeting of the
Charles D. Anderson chapter U. D.
C. was held Thursday afternoon with
Mrs. F. 0. Miller at her home on An¬
derson Ave. It was the" pleasure of
the club to have as honor guests on
this occasion Mrs. A. C. Barnes,
ident of the Sydney Lanier
of Macon, and Mrs. Fluellyn Holt of
Macon, also an officer of the Lanier
chapter. A most cordial welcode was
extended to these visitors, who con¬
tributed largely to the afternoon’s
program. Mrs. Barnes is stale chair¬
man of the Benson Sword Memorial
and spoke to the chapter here on that
subject. After the program an infor¬
mal reception was held. Mrs. Miller’s
attractive home was made especially
