AUNT SOFRQNY SAYS
That if a b’iled shirt, an ear
seraping collar and a lofty air made
a lofty man, her beau could easily
blow his proboscis among ^the stars
and use a cloud for a ’kerchief.
That a home without a husband
is merely an eating and keeping
place, but some men are so. triflin’
she’s—well, there’s no telling.
That it nearly tickles her to death
to watch a girl try to play the agree¬
able to her first beau. Oh, it’s aw¬
ful funny!
That she does not think a baby
show should be postponed on any ac¬
count, as she hears was done in this
town lately. It is a reflection ou
the town and may get people to
calling it a snag.
That when an editor at Tifton in¬
sinuates that she did not tell the
gospel truth about her Christmas
frolics, he places himself on a plane
little above that of a congressman
and shows very clearly that he has
a woowoo heart.
That she hopes by mutton corn
time, or sooner, most of the widow¬
ers in Ocilla will have paired off or
gone to glory, as she is tired listen¬
ing to their "sighs and looking at
their I’d-like-to-marry maneuvers.

illness. The remains were interred
Monday at the family burial ground.
Mrs. Tomberlin was a devoted
wife and mother, a good, kind
neighbor, and in every relation of
life she bore her part well, She
leaves a husband, two children and
many other relatives and friends to
mourn her death.
Mr. Dike Branch, so we hear, is
about to start a paper at Zealand,
near Pine Log river, in this county,
for the purpose of trying to secure
a railroad and other necessaries of
life for that city. Ile has already
purchased a quart of writing ink, a
half barrel of wooden shoe pegs, six
writing pads and a horse-pistol. He
thinks people would rather sub¬
scribe for his paper than die. The
new paper will be named “The
Crack >of Doom,”'and will be ably
edited.

There was to have been a baby
show in Ocilla on the 25th instant,
but the committee, so we have been
informed, has, for good and suffi¬
cient reason, postponed it indefi¬
nitely. Hon. Win. Henderson, wh©
thinks his is the prize baby, is said
to be hot in the pollar about the
postponement.

Friday night of last week there
was an enjoyable hop in Judge
Clements’ spacious office at Irwin
ville. The elite o. the town were
present and terpsichoro held sway
until the wee sma’ hours. A certain
popular judge, who has an ordinary

which he used his pedals in the
