Preparations Weil Under Way An
Interesting Program.
in. \ ,a <<ms (.owmhu (s appointed
last week to prepare for the barbecue
and picuc on the 27th are hard at
work, and the outlook seems propi-
tions for one of the best ’cues ever
given in the county.
It should be understood that this
is a county barbecue, though origi-
nated by the people of Oci.Ua, and
it is desired that every man in the
county should feel that way about it.
There will be visitors from sev-
oral adjoining counties, and they fol-
will find a warm Irwin county
come awaiting them.
The program is an excellent one,
and will afford pleasure and

Tifton to Fitzgerald, where it will
connect with a special from Abbe-
ville, which will reach Ocilla at 8:30
a. m., and leave at G p. in.
The ladies of Irwin county enjoy
the reputation of being unexcelled
when it comes to getting up public
dinners, and we are satisfied they
will add largely to their already fine
reputation on the 27th. This will
be a picnic in every respect, with
the barbecue feature added, and the
ladies of the county and town will
see that it is all that the most criti-
cal could expect.
It is the intention of those in
charge to get the people of the
county together for one day., when
old friends may meet and new
quaintances be formed—in a word,
t0 l>rin S th0 l >e °P Ic together and Let
them get better acquainted with each
other and have a day of solid enjoy-

Aunt Sofrony Says
—•—
That, after all, widows are just
as non-committal as their unmarried
sisters, and she is glad they are.
That if .she was engaged and a
man person was to get to trying to
hold her hand and talk soft chat to
her, she’d tell him spotly there was
a mortgage hanging over her, and
to Beat!
That she admires the young man
who parts his. hair not far above his
left ear and fills liB pockets with
nice calomel drops when ho goes to
see his best girl.
That there is nothing better for
married people to remember than
that it takes two to make a quarrel.
If she was boss of a man person
she’d see him dead (or fishing for
kittens in the ’Coochee, which is
about the same thing), before she’d
gratify him enough to quarrel with
him.
That she docs not want to hear
anything more about young ladies
primping and powdering their faces.
A man person told her, no later
yesterday, that Dan owes that pretty

Mr. Nathan Ory, the efficient
manager of Mr. T. Gottleib’s store
in Ocilla, says about eyery hour
some one calls to look at the good
goods .he advertises. They
had seen his advertisement in the
Dispatch and the dodgers he had
printed at the same office.
A large crowd witnessed the bap-
tizing last Saturday morning in Hen-
dehsoa’a lake. Twenty-three were
baptized. The total number re¬
ceived into the Baptist church dur¬
ing the revival was forty-nine. It
was among the most successful re¬
vivals ever held in Irwin.
Mr. John 15. Paulk says there are
two blackberry bushes near his
house that have good crops of ber¬
ries on them. That would be about
one pie, and John’s mouth looks
like it was built for doing away with
blackberry pie, so we won’t expect
even a pie crust from there.

THE DAILY INCREASE in our business is proof enough ,
that our customers approve of, and are profiting by, our meth¬
od of doing business. They have long since learned that
the cash buying system is the only safe road to success. ,
We frequently hear the complaint of toe much price at the m
credit houses. This old world is getting fall of sharks and
dead beats, the credit man losing more and more every year.
This means higher prices for goods, and the debt-paying «•
cousuiners are the ones that suffer. One dollar buys more
goods for cash than one dollar and t wenty-five cents will
buy at the credit prices. You should start the cash buying
system now. We have a beautiful line of nicely selected
goods, and carry everything usually kept in a general mer¬
chandise store. Tho public is invited to call at, our store,
examine our stock, and compare prices with those heretofore
paid the credit houses. Yours for Lower Prices,
