Mr. John L. Mixon and others were to have serit a lot of new wheat to Metz’s mill, in Coffee county, to¬ day. We’d like to borrow a siftin’ of this kind of flour from some of the wheat growers. Some of the boys are still champ¬ ing their bits about John McMillan’s oats. Mr. Register is an industrious young farmer of Berrien count}', and is worthy of the noble little woman who has consented to march adown the path of life w ith him. Yesterday morning a merry crowd of young ladies and gentlemen went up from Ocilla to Bowen’s Mill for a day’s outing. Paulk and Rus- sell Roberts. —•- Monday of last week Dr. J. E. Goethe removed a cancerous tumor from the back part of Mr. G. T. Pipkin’s neck. The tumor was larger than a silver dollar and the work of removing it was skillfully done. This kind of cancer is known in medical parlance as epithelioma. The place from which the tumor was removed is healing nicely and Mr. Pipkin expects to lie well in a week or so. Saturday afternoon of last week all that was mortal of Mrs. Alice Jenkins,'-neeiLoyless, was laid to rest in Cedar Hi'll cemetery- at Daw¬ son. She died the day > before at McDonald’s Mill, in Ware county. Mrs. Jenkins had many warm friends here, who will learn of her death with deep regret. To Mr. J. M. R- ‘Jenkins, her grief-stricken husband, we tender sincere condolence. Monday night about midnight Lawrence Prescott, N.P. of the 4tl) district, and Oscar Barron, bailiff of said district, had an altercation, 1 in which both emptied their pistols ■at each other, Prescott receiving ni dangerous and probably fatal wound Itl the neck, while Barron received a flesh wound in the left side, not serious. There is a vomuTi at the bottom of it. ‘Last Sunday afternoon about 4 o’clock a house on Miss Della Whit¬ ley’s place, about two miles north¬ east of Mrs. M. V. S. Whitley’s, was burned to the ground. The “house was occupied by George John¬ son, a worthy colored man, who was absent at preaching when the fire occurred, and lost everything. It is not known’how the fire started. Mr. Mitchell Paulk, son Of Mi's. Rhoda Paulk, who lives in Worth county, will, with his son, Charles Edward, visit relatives in this coun¬ ty next week and will be at his brother Jim’s on Wednesday, 19th iristarit, arid will be glad to meet as many of his friends as possible.
