When Capt. Bob Handley left
Irwinville Tuesday afternoon with
the seven convicted negroes, all
seated in the chaingang wagon-, they
raised a merry song and kept it up
until out of hearing.
Our handsome young friend, Jesse
Luke, whose farm is about a mile
from, Irwinville, is said to have the
finest rice of its age in the county.
It was planted in May and is now
about two feet high. Jesse learned
how to farm under a mighty good
instructor, and all his crops show
that he has not forgot what he
learned a few years ago—when he
was a boy.
