Mr. Elbert Paulk, brother of our Warren, speut a day in town this week, shaking hands with his kin¬ folks and friends. We hope to see him come oftener and stay longer. “Well,” said a drummer, Tues¬ day, to the unsuspecting Mayor of the town, “they’ve at last found the fellow that laid Goebel out.” “Who was it?” asked the Mayor, “The undertaker,” replied the drummer. We want to chat with you before you sell your chickens, eggs, hides, etc. It will pay you. 3-16-tf. Lyte & Clixt. Deputy Sheriff Henderson’s vac¬ cinate is about to disol ve copartners¬ hip with him. Say, friends, when you are in town, call at the Dispatch office and tell us tho news. We tip our best spring hat to the handsome and well-behaved young men who compose the Brushy Creek nine. Nothing pleases him better than to be pushing the good road work in old Irwin. “Mr. Gray” says the Minnie class will meet at Willacoochce church at 9 o’clock Sunday morning. Will they go thence to the big all-day sing at Irwinville, “Mr. Gray?” Farmer, farmer, what you a-doin’? « Waitin for the sunshine , t0 t t0 hoin ,„ How’s you.i crops and your garden sass? “All mighty sorry— except the grass.” Rain, rain, rain. The venerable Judge D. M. Ho¬ gan was a welcomed visitor to Ocilla last week. Under Dr. Luke’s skill¬ ful treatment he had recovered from a critical illness, and his host of friends rejoice to know that has obtained a new lease on life. Lyte <fc Clint have added another important line totheirbusi that of owl raising. They have a pair of the horned species in rear of their store, in a cage, and these wise looking birds attract much atten¬ tion. A number of the Brushy Creek Vocal Class speak of attending the sing at Irwinville next Sunday. Prof. W. J. Royal and most of the Minnie Vocal Class will also be there. Prof. Pickard, of Tifton, one of the ablest leaders in Southwest Georgia, will take part in the exercises, It will be a great day in Irwinville. Mr. R. L. The nine from Brushy Creek was , made up of the best young men in the ; neighborhood, viz: E. E. Dorminey, captain; If. B. Sutton, M. L. Mc- Neeso, Nas Tucker, Jack McMillan, , W. H. Paulk, Rob. Grantham, Geo. j Grantham and “Boy” Harper, j They were accompanied by the I Brushy Creek Brass Band, which , rendered several popular airs and did much, to cheer the boys on to I victory. At the end of the second inning the score stood 0 to 2 in fa- ■ vor of Ocilla, but for some cause j Ocilla’s pitcher and one or two field- ; ers were changed, and then the Brushy Creek boys completely wiped up the diamond. Six innings were played, at the end of which the score stood 21 to 10 in favor of Brushy Creek. NOTES. Col. Melvin Paulk umpired the game, aad gave general satisfaction. The usual amount of “rooting” and guying was indulged in by the friends of each team, which created merriment for the spectators. Several beautiful “flies” were nabbed by the Ocilla boys, Willie Hobbs making the most astounding catch. Fred Bruce is a born “catcher” and needs better support. Many of the fair sex witnessed the game, and apparentlp enjoyed it very much. The best of good humor prevailed, and Ocilla would be glad to have the boys come again. Married.
